It has been 12 years since I finished high school biology and I wish I could go back in time and show this video to my teacher at the time. The explanation of primate relatedness at around the 35 minute mark is the exact argument I had with him! I lost points on a test because he didn’t understand phylogeny!!!! To this day, as an adult with a job and life of my own, it is the single most angering memory I have of my school days. Grrrr

people deserve reparations for the "biology" they were taught in high school tbh. I still remember being told that a rabbit is less nutritious than some grass, and even at the time I knew that was BS.

Fun Fact: The Geosternbergia was suppose to appear in the Lost World in it's original final at the abandoned worker village with the tiger-striped raptors and The Lost world Pteranodon (which is seen in the final shot of the finished film). Eventually, the Stan Winston Geosternbergia design was used for the Hammond Collection and it was mentioned in that was actually designed and had concept art made for it but sadly, it wasn't used( although it could be in the final film flying in the background in the ending scene).

Yes, I have indeed seen “Spaceballs” 1987. Unfortunately, I’ve not seen it since. It was 2011 and I was 9 years old, I watched the film and enjoyed the vast majority of it. However, the ending gag of the film hit me like a truck. I was mortified, it very well could have been the first time I had seen an alien or even a reference to the film alien on screen. I sat in absolute silence after turning off the television. I couldn’t even bring myself to remove the dvd from the player. The rest of the day I was cold and quiet, my father took me to the fair and I enjoyed none of the rides. For years I feared ingesting anything that I myself didn’t make. I feel comfortable sharing this information with the skeleton crew community.

S Tier for me I've always had a strange fascination for Geosternbergia/Pteranodon Sternbergi in general as when I think of Pterosaurs, this guy always comes to my mind. When I made my Pterosaur park titled "Pterosaur Paradise", I had an aviary that included the JP3 & JW Pteranodon as well as Geosternbergia, in which case I called it my Niobrara/Pteranodon Coasts Aviary. Despite it being featherless, that aspect of it doesn't affect my personal ranking as the sounds, behaviors, gorgeous colors and patterns, and overall design more than make up for it. It also moves really smoothly, especially when it's gliding

I must point out that there is a second instance of funny arsenic. One of the more important compounds in organic chemistry is pyrrole. Pyrrole has a single nitrogen atom, and if you replace it with the chemically-similar arsenic, you get a compound called arsole. That on its own is enough to warrant it as funny arsenic, but the cherry on top is that just how aromatic arsole is has been debated for decades.

So in Geology, there is a big push for mountain ranges to be classified by the uplift event that actually formed the current visible range. For the Rockies, this is the Laramide and Sevier Orogenies. This is very annoying to some people who prefer a geographical classification of mountain ranges because it means that the Tetons are not Rocky Mountains, but rather their own range in the Basin and Range uplift area.

EDIT: nevermind, I commented this before reaching the part where James mentioned this explicitly! Is anagenesis the same/similar to chronospeciation? I've always heard chronospecies as a term to describe a species who, over time, change enough across their whole population to be considered another distinct species(Triceratops horridus -> Triceratops Prosus, is the example I was given when being told this).
