Thank you for this helpful video tutorial! 👍 If anyone is really short on time, here's the basic game play described in exactly 100 words: Complete each mission by helping all players acquire specific assigned cards or “tasks” (four colors X numbered 1 through 9) by winning tricks containing assigned task. All playing cards are dealt to players. Deal X number of task cards in center. Players circle to pick tasks. Player with Black4 trump card (1 of 4 trumps) picks and plays first card. Players can “radio” once per mission to reveal card as highest or lowest of that color, or only card of that color. The number of tasks, task selection eligibility, task sequence, and radio access vary by mission (50 in all).

Missed rule: "Tricks that are won are set aside face down; only the last trick can be looked at." In other words, you discard the tricks facedown into a collective pile, and you may only check the last won trick before or after each round.
@MeepleUniversity4 жыл бұрын
Hi. Yes, thanks for correcting. As in many trick-taking games, that is the rule. It governs how much you have to card-count as you play through.

Wife and started playing this the other day and cannot stop! It is so fun and addicting. We can't wait to try it with more human players. Great tutorial. Technically the manual says to use the red side of the communication token when communicating when communication is disabled (but I am not sure why....). And I think the circle/square your crew is using to record attempts is circled when you use the distress call, not the icon for it. Keep up the good work, so thorough yet quick-paced.

Great explanation guys!! If i have a rocket and cards of the colour that leads the trick can i throw the rocket instead of throw a suitable colour to win the trick? Thanks in advance!!
@MeepleUniversity3 жыл бұрын
Hi Dimitrios. The rocket is considered a separate colour/suit, so you could not play the rocket card in this situation.

concerning the number sequence such as the 1 and the 2 . These mean the first and then second task to complete. Does this also mean the first trick then the second task on the second trick?

Thank you for the video. I#d advise the designers to go with a lit-up side of the communications marker and one that is dark and powered down. Because I couldn't tell what side you have it flipped to. Red greet visual impairment...

I’d like to know too. I guess if the (large) card is in the trick, no matter who has played it, and you have that task card (color and number), you’ll accomplish that task.
@MeepleUniversity4 жыл бұрын
I guess this is part of the trick taking. For example, you try to win the trick by playing the highest card of that colour, or the trump card (rocket). Or drain other people of that colour card so you can win with lower number. Depends who has the cards too.

10:33 what are you saying yes or no to if no one knows what the task/there own cards is?

Josh - in this case, players have seen their own hand, but not the tasks. Apologies for the confusion.

I only misses a good exploitation about the rockets. It's not a joker, but can only be played at the begin of a trick but then the other players must play a rocket to if they have one. Also you can played it in a trick if you don't have the color of the begin of the trick. If you have the highest rocket in a trick you will win the trick.
@MeepleUniversity4 жыл бұрын
Ah thank you for that :)

Do you always have to play a higher valued card? Or could the play go : Green 2, Green 7, Green 5, Green 4 and the 2nd player wins the trick?
@MeepleUniversity3 жыл бұрын
Hi there. No, you aren't required to play a higher valued card than the previous cards. The only requirement is that you play from the same colour/suit if capable of doing so.
@modularcuriosity3 жыл бұрын
@@MeepleUniversity I bought the game and you're correct. Also, the instructions in the game properly explained that (which was helpful) It's just that in every review I've seen, they always seem to play a higher card so I was a little confused. Thank you for taking the time to answer my question.

Let's say it's a 5 player game and 3 task, does the captain HAVE to take a task, or can he pass so the rest of the crew have options to take it or not?
@MeepleUniversity2 жыл бұрын
Josh - the captain must take a task. (If you're playing The Crew 2, this rule has been altered and the captain may pass; but in the original Crew, the captain must take one)

So what if you just don't draw the card you need to win the trick? Am I missing something? If I have to win with a yellow 4 but don't have the yellow 4, I just don't understand.

I don't understand why there are numbers on the task cards. The directions don't explain it and neither does this video really. In the directions it says if i have the Pink #1 task card and i win the trick with a Pink #9, then the task is completed. Why even have numbers on the task cards?? I'm so confused
@BeTheGuitar3 жыл бұрын
I found it confusing in the manual as well. But the Task card tells you which card you need to end up with by winning a trick. So if your Task card is the Pink #1 Task Card, that means you have to win a trick where the pink #1 card is played. If another player plays the pink #1 card and you play the pink #9 card, you will win that trick and take those cards. You’ll have taken the pink #1 card, satisfying your Task Card’s condition. Unless some clueless other player plays a rocket card and loses the mission for everyone lol
@MeepleUniversity3 жыл бұрын
Thanks, yes this is correct. You must win the trick containing the card (colour and number) on your task card.

Confused about how tasks work if you have 2 tasks of the same suit given to different players.
@MeepleUniversity3 жыл бұрын
Having two tasks of the same colour with different players is difficult, but manageable. The aim is that each player wins the trick containing the specific card on their task card. The most important thing for winning is that the two cards represented on the tasks not be played into the same trick. This would usually only happen if the colour has been led and both players holding those tasks have only that one card with which to follow.

Nice tutorial but still I wont buy this game because the Playing Cards have a very poor design and the Task Cards looks exactly the same with the Playing Cards but only smaller. Its confusing. Task Cards could have been a small card in a certain colour with a single number showing on it, not 4 numbers on 4 sides like the Big Cards should be. The suit colours could have been with Orange and Purple, not Pink and Yellow. I wished they have the cards like that of VOLTAGE by Hasbro. Tha Cards looks extremely elegant and sophisticated.
