I’m 32 and when I was 18 I got the classic birds flying away tattoo and YIKES I refuse to get anything trendy now. The cyber sigilism trend is the new tribal and in 20 years it’ll scream 2024 😅

The opposite of cringe.. but all the flash paintings you can see in the background of your shop seem really solid. I would be interested in a video of a shop tour where you talk about some of your favorite flash paintings that are hanging up and if they have any history/meanings in the tattoo industry.

i think people automatically assume popular = cringe. Maybe they're right ? Idk, for example I have a snake tattoo on my arm and they're reaaally popular rn. Some will probably think we're cringe for that - but when i meet someone outside with a snake i'm like "snake friend!!!" and that's cool to me :)

I’m so torn about that. I want realistic bird tattoos. I like birds, take pictures of birds, wildlife, and nature. I went online for inspiration and see hundreds of bird tattoos. Another bummer is I do love Lilo and Stitch. I am getting a Halloween themed tattoo. Will I end up with multiple popular tattoos. Will it be the new lion.

In defense of my barcode tattoo 😂 I got it when I was 16 in the early 90s, I literally knew NO ONE who had one. I got it on the back of my neck because I was an edgelord who wanted to make a statement about the school systems & feeling like cattle in society. Then that stupid fkn TV show comes out a few yrs later where the girl has it and it EXPLODED on the scene 🤦 . I had to rush out and get it covered up with a giant black star I still have to this day. I regret the star too 🤣

I feel like those super vibrant anime tattoos will be considered cringey in 20 years. No hate, I think they can be super well done and interesting. One artist I've worked with sorta specializes in them and she's killer. I just don't know how cool they'll be in the future.

for me it is tramp stamps, semicolon, infinity symbol, barbed wire, awkwardly placed tattoos, puzzle piece, feather... basically any "viral tattoo" on social media that pops up and suddenly everyone gets it. I know people can do what they want, but i do judge people from their tattoos. This is really what you got permanently tattooed on yourself.... iti makes me think that the person is easily swayed. I just can't look past it.
@Jaguarkralle14 ай бұрын
I agree on all but the semicolon since it has a deeply personal meaning. At least that's where the trend came from. There surely are people that got it just because tho

Burning churches (of a specific design) are often references to specific early black metal bands. Only people in the black metal community are meant to get it. So it’s not really a “trying to be tough” as much as it’s as social signal to people with the same interest. People who just saw, thought it was cool and get any old church design being burned with no references to BM are probably just wannabe edge lords though lol

The barcode tattoo is sometimes used by human traffickers, i cringe when i see it because I'm always trying to assess if the person is actually ok. Same with those line tattoos i see on Pinterest. Like one long plain line across the shoulders or up the arm, or on the hand. Those were/are marks of human trafficking. So whenever i see them i just don't know how to act or feel but it always starts with anxiety.
