The Crkt FREYR Axe from the Forged by War Series

The crkt FREYR Axe designed by veteran Elmer Roush brings us a modern take on a time proven Nordic axe design. This isn’t meant to be a wall hanger but for taking out and doing camp tasks and possibly the raiding of a small costal monastery.

Twice burned, stained and boiling linseed oil was applied.

So, I am not set up or do not have the inclination to reproduce what I do. My intentions are to show that even me, a non-professional can “through much trial and error”accomplish if one has the will to do so. My approach to things seeing that I am not overly patient is to purchase the leather, stamps etc as I find the need. I went to Tandy leather and spent a goodly amount of time hanging out and asking a lot of questions. I appreciate the thought about liking what I made enough to buy one though.

Over strike collar was challenging. I tooled in the scales on a square of leather, sprayed enough water on it to make it pliable and used a mallet to to the shoe in. Then I let it dry, cut the shape out and touched up the scale with the stamp.

@@haveaknifeday Well,..you did a great job. I don't think I'd have the skills to make one, let alone one as nice looking as yours. You could make a killing selling them on sites like ETSY. But thanks for the info. Take care.
