I haven't bought a knife in quite a long time but have pulled the trigger on one of these. The cost + design is hard to resist and am really looking forward to it. Good video man

Got it!! And it feels really nice! I don't get what's the problem with assisted opening. All the problems with this knife are the matter of taste. You like thick blade or you like assist or you like aliminium handle(practically something dielectrical would be more universal but I didn't care, i liked it). It's really good. And what i've noticed at first, it's really not that big as it seems on photos.

Definitely my favorite of the new 2021 CRKT's. The only thing I would have liked to see CRKT do differently with the Lanny, is make it not an assisted opening. They have great bearings with their IKBS bearings and I just think it would have made it feel more premium. Regardless, it looks like an awesome knife and is still my favorite from their 2021 releases. Like I've said before, 8cr13mov doesn't bother me if it's a good looking knife that I want. 8cr13mov works plenty good for almost all daily tasks. Those hypothetical sponsors are hilarious and always make for a great laugh. Great video once again JT.

You're right about the action. It would feel more expensive if it were manual. But for whatever reason CRKT wanted to go this route.

They have been putting out some great designs and I think the quality is getting better. This is one of the best designs. Having big hands, I like the neutral handle. I’m a big fan of simple knives. The new Spring is interesting. Using all these designers, CRKT must be catering to knife people besides the average guy. I’d guess half the knife people are concerned with steel (not me).. It makes me wonder if they discuss changing steel and why they don’t. Spyderco does the same with using S30V and VG10 on many base models. People have complained for years. I wonder if it’s a hassle changing suppliers, machinery or a money decision. Probably money.
@JTsKnifeLife
@JTsKnifeLife 3 жыл бұрын
I think it's 100% a money thing. With Spyderco, they release so many sprints and variations that you can get better steel in almost anything. With CRKT it seems that if a model does well they'll give it an upgraded version down the road.

The Gatorade G2 is actually fortified with dihydrogen monoxide. The SpeedSafe patent just expired recently, so I think CRKT is now using that mechanism on their new assisted models. I don't see anything functional difference from Kershaw's SpeedSafe. SpeedSafe has the same "bias to close" too. SOG was the first manufacturer that I know of to use bearings with assisted opening. Kershaw is doing it too this year with their Collateral and Turismo models. By the way, the spring is a torsion spring, not a torsion bar.

Don't mind the materials if the price is right, but $60 is not. I own the Up & At'Em. Got it for less than 30. Totally worth it. Great user. Same materials as on this knife and it's probably a better slicer. I do like the design here but so, so much competition at the $60 price point. Also, the QC can't be trusted. But I appreciate your loyalty to the brand. They ought get you on the payroll.

@@JTsKnifeLife Really? Has there been some negative communication from their end?

Well, there have been a few exchanges over the years in the warranty department about problems I've had, but most recently they seemed to be unhappy with what I said about last years Razel model. That feedback didn't come directly to me though, wish it had.

@@JTsKnifeLife makes me dislike them even more as a company. I feel they do the least with feedback from customers amongst the larger companies. If anything I feel they actually push back against it at times.

Only zeros drink zero ! I'm loving it ! You put the hater bait out there, 8CR, aluminum, assisted & that clip ain't deep carry. Ha ha. That effect on the scales is called " hammered", I think cause the guy that came up with it was hammered. 8CR is okay for most everyone but if you're going camping for a long weekend best to bring something to sharpen with. Yeah , I'm not a steel snob but prefer something better. Like the compound grind. Good review.

How do I get in the pass around group! 😂 I like the blade on that one! Still not sure about finish. But that has the blade shape I am drawn too! Hold onto that one and pull it out 10 years later. 👍🏻

Looks very nice. Like the hammered look on the scales. Should provide more grip than if they hadn't done that. Really wish they had moved the hole or done away with it completely for lanyards. I like true deep carry where the top of the clip is level or higher than the back end of the scales. I like the pop of color which I usually do not. Interesting knife. Thanks for sharing it and your opinion of it.
