There's a cut scene due to that, apparently by helping her directly, he went against his vengeance quest, so when she cuts his hands, they don't heal as well, that's why he's got the tape wrapped around them later.

Michael Massee was the one who unfortunately killed Brandon Lee. People always get the scene wrong though. It was the scene where they invade Eric's home. The gun hadn't been cleaned proper, and trace gunpowder left over fired the blank with lethal force. He said he never recovered. What a tragedy. Rest in peace Brandon. And Michael.

Perhaps the reboot has one positive thing at least: Brandon is being heavily talked about lately. The movie is a masterpiece, and sadly, would have meant his breakthrough. He had it all: looks, charisma, wit, heritage... Such a damn waste of talent. I mean, the dude was engaged also and would have gotten married just two weeks after completing the movie! Life is so capricious at times. Having said all that, yes... I have no hopes for the reboot.
