Tidals you can't turn off surface skimmer when feeding. The intake tubes can't be extended. They don't fit in many acrylic tank slots. But cool on the automatic restart. I like that this new one you can get a surface skimmer option but you're not forced like with the tidal, does restart, can still extend the tubes for an deep tank I believe. Will fit in all acrylic tank slots.

I really like the intake sponges! I'm tired of having ones that are too big and having to zip tie them on and then having the zip ties break after a while 😅. I'm hoping they'll still sell replacement parts for the older models as one of the reasons I bought so many ACs is so that I could keep them going forever and just replace parts when needed. Will be interested to see reviews on the new ones when they're available though. Great video and reporting on the new design, Alex! 🙂👍

They should have put the pump in the tank. I have a 110 and hate it. Won't buy another.
@FathomAquatics5 ай бұрын
@@andrewwhittaker2908 what do you hate about it? This is a new design where the Intake is angled and slightly lower and doesn’t break siphon - the pump restarts after power outages unlike the previous model. Fluval even demonstrated it on video on their facebook page and a subscriber of mine who has the new filter tested it and verified it does indeed restart.
@andrewwhittaker29085 ай бұрын
@@FathomAquatics I don't like the pump not being in tank where you get a 100% guarantee it will restart and it greatly reduces any noise even farther. I dislike that a percentage of the water that goes through the filter can and does bypass the media even when the media is fresh. And I dislike the bottom up flow because to keep your filter floss down and in place you must weight it down with the bag of biomedia which reduces the room for more floss, compresses it, and reduces its filtering capacity. When I bought it I though it would be a much better filter than it is. I run a size appropriate sponge filter in all my tanks and use my hob filters for mostly mechanical filtration and water clarity so packing it with bio media is a waist space for me. When I try to use filter floss to polish my water after the sponge it will just blow out of it without the bag of ceramic so I can't put as mych floss in as I wish I could've.

@@FathomAquatics old version but from what I see is they really didn't change much. It uses the same pump set up. Same media basket set up. Same flow control basically, which is pretty much useless Only change was the intake tube which was fine if they had moved the pump, lid, and they now offer a skimmer. 🤷♂️
@andrewwhittaker29085 ай бұрын
@@FathomAquatics my whisper iq 60s are much better for my uses. They're pump is in the tank They're flow control is amazing The media box is much smaller but is much more efficient when it comes to mechanical filtration especially when you replace the blue bio tray and filter cartridges with filter foam and floss pad. Their back to front flow design ensures that 100% of the water is ran through the media unless the media is due to be rinsed or replaced.
