In the PI, they took my uncle when he was young. But my Lolo was a Medicine Man and bargained to have him back. I saw one in the 4th grade. I couldn't speak for 3 days from fright. My Pops is a Lakota Chief. They have them on the reservations. During Sundance they were taking items so my Pops gave them a watermelon and they were happy. No more problems. On Hopi you give blue corn offerings. I've done this in sacred sites . In Lakota ceremony we give tobacco. Even a small pinch works.

Back here in Ghana people get abducted by these dwarfs sometimes years or months on end and most of these abductees come back with special powers and knowledge to heal various ailments. These dwarfs encountered here and are firmly entrenched in our folklore have their feet backwards too... and communicate through whistling sounds which only the former abductees can understand and interpret. The tata duande is essentially a dwarf.... according to our folklore they live for hundreds of years at a stretch but are not immortal. They live mostly in Rocky, mountainous regions within caves and dug out stones.. and yes they can be very mischievous. Calling the dwarfs monsters is a gross misnomer.

The horse thing is interesting cuz it is in Irish and Scottish folklore as well as Canadian folklore that the Fae will tie knots in the horses hair much like these people are seeing. Other similar things are offering of sweets, tobacco and things like honey and milk is very much the same as we do for the Fae. I have noticed that around the world many similar entities exist just with different names, makes you wonder right.

Ha,doc got mugged by a forest fae! I saw some in the forest I lived in when I was 15 in Colorado. I thought it was a pack of raccoons crawling on the ground until they stopped and sat up like people do. They were only 50 feet in front of me. They faced away from but one turned and looked at me. And extended its left arm to lean on while it looked at me. Thats when I realized they were wearing raccoon coats as clothing. That one that looked at me had a people face, saw the left arm it leaned on to look back at me. We stared at eachother for a few seconds, that was enough for me. I just bolted and ran like hell the mile or so back to my cabin house. I know what I saw,I just dont know what they were. Some kind of people I never heard or saw about I guessed,or something else...

As a Swede I have to say it’s fascinating that it’s some striking similarities to our gnome-like creatures. The ‘Tomte’ and ‘Vätte’ and they also braid the manes of horses. In appearance they look much the same except the things about the hands and feet. They are very fond of porridge as well. Usually they are friendly but not necessarily, however never purely malevolent. Most of the time they’re invisible, but change shape into cats, birds and snakes. On very rare occasions they show up in their humanoid appearance. And it’s actually the most frequent folklore creature people claim to have seen in modern times. The belief in these are pretty strong but foremost it has a central role in our culture. The ones that live/d as house spirits are those that people are most familiar with and it’s still customary to give them porridge at the Christmas night. Anyway, I find the “gnomes” all around the world to have similar enough appearance and behaviour and without having any special cultural (human) connections to think there’s more than what first cross your mind.

As a child in Florida in the 1960s I was threatened with the Boogieman. I think all cultures have these stories to keep kids from getting lost in the jungles and woods. I am open minded and there are many things that exist, myths came from stories people told of beings they saw.

Southeast Asia = Bunian, Orang Pendek. Reported by Van Heerwarden, who described an encounter he had while surveying land in 1923. Brazil = Curupira, Reported by José de Anchieta, 1560. Greece = Abarimon/Nuli, Described by Pliny the Elder. Europe = Dwarf, Gnome, Described in germanic folklore. and many more...

Not true @bradiethomson9555. I work at a HS & my students love it. We talk about folklore, myths, & legends from all over. They love to share ones from their countries (mostly the Americas, but also, some other countries) & compare/contrast them. Including some from tribes in the USA, & Europe. We've talked about the Aztec Codices (Mēxihicatl āmoxtli - in Nahuatl) & the belief many have today that Moctezuma sent all their gold to the far North (Utah, or further??)to find their original home, Aztlán, before Cortez could take the rest. We've discussed the Incas, nazca lines, the Maya, 33:07 & read parts of the Popol Vuh. Cultural beliefs & traditions are a big part of Language Arts & World History in HS & college. They also enjoy discussing similarities of ancient Egyptians, India, & many of the ancients, & ancestors in the Americas & other places who believed in aliens or the sky people. Kids are more curious & interésted than many think.

I used to be a skeptic about elves, fairies, gnomes, etc. Over recent years we have discovered about the giant squid and many other unknown species all the time. We have only explored 5% of our oceans. We can only try to imagine things unseen. I believe God has created things left unseen and it’s up to us to discover. More and more I hear stories about nomes, elves, and fairies. The more I believe. I believe in aliens, ghosts, djinn, Sasquatch, sea serpents, etc. that I have not seen or can’t see. Then why not believe in this?

If you want more reseach for this Tata Dwende go to Philippines.TATA means is you called a person with respect or showing love to the person intsead calling his name we called it tata or ta. TATA is an Ilonggo dialect her from Philippines which also adopt on spaniard.

They have the legends confused? 🤔 1.El duende makes you follow you and get you lost. ( Kids only) 2.La Tulivieja is the one that whistles, she is a woman with an ugly face under a veil. 3. El Turrututu the bird that sings and if you mimic him it follows you and attacks you, sign of somebody's death, too.
