How to make simple syrup in the microwave: fill a glass microwave safe receptacle, possibly a measuring cup or a container with measurements with half sugar and half water give it a stir. Put it in the microwave for 1 minute on high (typically for one cup). Take it out and stir it until it's room temperature and the crystals have evaporated into the water.

This episode reminds me of when l was a waitress in many drinking establishments long ago. You got out of work and got a duty drink. Then the regulars would try to get you super drunk. I don't know what the measurement is but my favorite drink is a Vampire Kiss. Includes cherry pucker, grenadine and I believe vodka. Serve either chilled or on the rocks.

I usually get a bucket of vanilla ice cream from winn dixie, Pernod absinthe, & any ground or powdered clove seasoning (i have McCormick brand). I've tried this with other brands of absinthe & ice creams & it didn't come out as well as my usual ingredients, but you can experiment. I start by preparing my asbinthe with 2 or 3 sugar cubes & leaving out the water (no one wants watery shakes) using about a shot, maybe 2. I fill the blender almost 3/4 full of ice cream (which makes about 1 full wine glass when you're done), sprinkle the clove on top & pour my absinthe in over it. Then i hit liquify on the blender, pour it in my glass & put a straw with bats on it in my glass.

The cthulhurita looks great for instagram in that glass. But with such over the top garnishes it would probably be less of an ordeal to drink in a traditional margarita glass. The shallower bowl would also allow you to put the rock candy in, stick up, while still appearing like craggy rock formations.

Happy Halloween week, fellow child of The Night. Nice to see these spookylicious, easy/medium mode cocktails being made, as many bar gatherings and wet parties won't be happening this year. Thank you for the (green blood of) virgin drink version of the Lovecraft inspired cocktail you made; my sister is one such teetotaler you describe, and even if my meds were not an issue, I would not partake of "the happy juice" on the regular. Rappacini's Daughter, The Masque of the Red Death, and The Tiger and the Lady are short stories that could conjure up some scary cocktails too I think, something to "muddle over" for bartending future... or maybe "mull over" as mulled cider/wine is still free game through the holiday season.

Thanks for sharing the hooch recipe! Now let me share one with you! Get out your blender...put 1 cup of Parrot Bay, 1/2 cup of Absolut Black (100 proof), 1 can of coconut milk, 1 tablespoon of sugar and 1-2 cup(s) of ice in it, however frosty you want. Blend the hell out of it. Pour into highball glasses and garnish with cinnamon (either sprinkle or a stick). I created this drink for the annual Halloween party I used to have when I had a life. I call it a "Jack Sparrow". (also shared this on your comments section!)

These look like a lot of fun! I was inspired by this video to go out and find all the supplies I needed (that I didn’t already have) to make a Cthulhurita. I made it a memory challenge by not writing anything down or allowing myself to watch the video again until the drink was completed. Aside from the store not selling dry ice or rock candy, it worked out perfectly! The only green candy strings I was able to find were several inches too short and so they all slipped to the bottom of the glass. I discovered that that’s almost better, since it looks like crazy tentacles reaching up from the deep! Thanks for a fun afternoon activity.

I make a Sangria punch type thing for Halloween. It's just whatever cheap Sangria you can find, my favorite is Carlo Rossi, then add orange juice, ginger ale, and fresh or frozen strawberries and peaches. I'm terrible at fractions, but it's probably 2/4th Sangria, and a quarter of both ginger ale and orange juice. I hope that makes sense, it's pretty hard to mess up, really. Serve it chilled with ice and garnish your cup with an orange slice. It's cheap, it's fast, and it's tasty.

Ahhh, Apple Pucker...the first alcohol I ever drank and got drunk on...it makes a great "Slush" with Mt. Dew. They used to make a Blue Raspberry pucker too, I don't know if they do anymore though.

If you don't want to use Hawaiian Punch, I would suggest white grape juice and a tiny bit of green food coloring. Which if food coloring is what you're trying to avoid, there are really good organic food colorants out there
