Thanks for uploading this great video of a conversation with Mike demonstrating CubeStormer II and for including the links and other information in the description. It is a great reminder of a fantastic event :)

Human solvers are allowed to look at it before the time starts, you guys could cut 1.4ish seconds from every solve if you started the time when you started the solve.

2:16 CubeStormer 2 becomes self aware, drops cube in frustration at being a human slave, and considers ripping off human’s hand as he gropes around for half-solved cube.

This is really awesome, combining NXT with a smartphone. I wish I had the knowledge and time to think that out. Congrats!

Now you need another robot to scramble the cube...
@galahad63006 жыл бұрын
matemana just set the robots «solution» to be a set of scrambled cubes which it randomly chooses from, instead of a solved rubiks cube

how much for this machine
@sephypantsu11 жыл бұрын
of course there is. Once you get the algorithm, the only think that matters is how fast you can make the moves. And of course the examining of the rubix cube doesn't count for time
@pararpetto927510 жыл бұрын
you could make something like safety switch at the botom of it. so it wont destroy itself when somthing hapens

Two things that I have: a Lego mindstorm(not that many pieces) and a Rubik's cube. Awesome.

Where do you begin desining
@MekazaBitrusty8 жыл бұрын
How would you even begin to design something like this? 👍
@kolenda28 жыл бұрын
Learning to solve it by hand :)
@GreenBeans728 жыл бұрын
kolenda2 actually that wouldnt help at all. the most common solving method is layer by layer which is not the fastest possible method. workibg out the fastest solving method would require an insane mind and basically isnt possible for a human, however a conputer can always solve the cube in 20 moves or less.
@kolenda28 жыл бұрын
Chris Levesley If you do this as an amateur you can learn few simple moves that will get you to the solved cube, I knew one such method few years ago. But if you're going for the world record then you need the fastest possible solution, and people do this, so it's possible for our brains. I still believe that to implement something in code you need to understand it first. I've never wrote the code that I didn't understand and it worked ;)
@GreenBeans728 жыл бұрын
kolenda people do not solve the cube in thee fastest way, they ise the fastest METHOD (most use cfop) howeber a computer can work out the optimal solution using the fewest possible number of moves, which is always 20 or less

Note that the Cubestormer 2 was beaten by the Cubestormer 3 and then by the Cube Twister. Cube Twister runs under EV3 Basic which was developed, like the Twister itself, by Reinhard Grafl. He is seeking recognition by Guinness World Records of his new time of 2.2 seconds! Search for Cube Twister on KZbin. See also ev3basic-dot-com.

What will happen if I give it an unsolvable Rubik's cube? Is it able to recognize that the cube is unsolvable?
@joshodom90467 жыл бұрын
The solver algorithm searches for some solutions. Usually, the programmer will add logic so if no solutions are found, it will show an error message.. If it's not coded as well, it the searching algorithm might search forever hoping to find a solution, which would cause the machine to just freeze. It wouldn't just start making random moves, because it's not allowed to start turning the cube faces until it knows an entire solution.
