The Cubs dumping Cody Bellinger this quickly feels like they bought a lottery ticket and cashed out at the first sign of trouble. For the Yankees, it's a gamble, but Yankee Stadium's short porch might be the lifeline his bat needs. Just hope the clubhouse stays drama-free!

Bellinger had a 7 win share in 2023 and not even a 5 win share in 2024 with the same number of plate appearances. He'll be 30 years old this summer. The Cubs figure his career is on the wane. A shoulder is not what ruined Bellinger. His power was down because MLB got rid of the live balls!! But Yankees are the best fit because he can still hit that short porch!!
@naturallawman29657 сағат бұрын
His power also went down because he changed his approach to fix his swing to being a line-drive hitter, rather than power. It's what gave him a Resurrection @ Wrigley as a quality player, and got his K's down. He'll never be a big 40-50HR hitter again. He'd have to change his entire swing. But in Yankee Stadium... he just might be able to crack that 30HR plateau with his approach and that short-porch in RF.

I would very much prefer that the Yankees play Bellinger at 1B, and then go out and get Anthony Santander and his 44 HRs for the outfield as Soto's official replacement. Bellinger, if he bats 2nd, directly in front of Aaron Judge, he is going to get much better pitches to hit. Another consideration, Wrigley Field is a tough park for sluggers to do well in because the wind is often blowing IN, keeping potential HRs in the ballpark. That would not be the case with the short porch in RF at Yankee Stadium, where Bellinger has already hit rockets into as a visiting player at Yankee Stadium.
@haydenrogers2419 сағат бұрын
Everything you are saying about Bellinger transitioning to Yankee stadium is completely correct. That said, I believe that keeping him in the outfield drastically improves the overall defense of the team and allows Judge to play right field. That provides tremendous value to this team’s defense. If you want pop, go after a 1st basemen. Replacing Soto is impossible so you might as well try to make this team better at playing the sport of baseball.
@pcbullets87267 сағат бұрын
He will definitely get some pitches to hit batting in front of Judge. Could be a win for NY. He will be playing for his next contract and looking to prove he's not washed up. It'll be interesting to say the least.

I don’t think the Cubs gave up on Bellinger I just think they are seeing that he getting up there in the age and he ain’t the same player he was before that injury.
