I suspect a owl got either both the cuckoo and the 1 female baby. Or it got either the cuckoo and the female fledge in fright or the other way around. Birds don't normally fledge before dawn. And if they did fledge we hear them in background calling for parents. At least the 2 males got to fledge and didn't get taken. Birds of prey normally come back for all nestlings. Thanks for showing us a update of the video you had nature bird I appreciate you showing the full nests story.

So an owl got this one too, eh? That is the cuckoo's own karma for not leaving the nest when it properly should have, as it chose to remain lazy instead of fledging. Glad that at least two of the nestlings managed to survive the little Judas and grow enough to fledge, I have enjoyed the journey.

I think he brings he camera home before sun goes down. Then goes back and puts it up at dawn. Probably needs to charge battery each night.

夜が明けたらカッコウが巣から消えてた…ってそれ過去の撮影にもありましたよねその時は辺りに羽を散らして動かない状態で見つかりましたけど

明るくなって以降は巣の左側が荒れていた事や、雛が親の呼びかけにも反応しない程に硬直していたので、やはり夜の間で襲撃にあったのだと想像できます。真っ暗でカメラには何も映っていないとは思いますが、音声だけでも何か分かることはあると思います。本当に巣から去ったのか、あるいは襲われてこの世から去ったのか。追記:カメラの外で別の雛が鳴いてる気がするんすけど、もしかしてカッコウが襲われた時に一羽だけ巣を飛び出したのでは…?

It was probably time for them to leave the nest, so much so that one of the babies is not there either (there were three) and they became two)

Probably because a owl caught the cuckoo and the 1 female little bird. And only the 2 males fledged. Birds don't fledge before sun comes up unless there's danger.
