The Cuilcagh Boardwalk Trail (Stairway to Heaven) route meanders through one of the largest expanses of blanket bog in Northern Ireland, traversing over tracks, boardwalk and staircase. A steep climb is required to reach the viewing platform which provides breathtaking views of the surrounding low lands.
The walk is a pleasant one, with a few steep hills between the main car park and the start of the boardwalk, Their is one shelter about 2km into the walk but with the amount of foot traffic it is not fit for purpose, we need more, their is a few areas to sit and rest but not enough, their is also no toilet areas on this walk which is badly needed, the climb to the top of stairway to heaven is tough and you would expect an area to sit and relax at the top, but its very small for the amount of visitors.The view is breath taking and the walk is a beautiful walk but let down by the lack of facilities. 7/10

I did the Cuilcagh Mountain today Paul all the way to the top. A great climb and the boardwalk definitely did help, but the weather just didn't cooperate.....it got so bad at times the Stairway to Heaven felt more like the Highway to Hell (666 metres remember 😈) but there were some clearer intervals. I'd say it took me 2 hours up and 1 hour 50 mins down.

Ah the weather dont you just hate it, when it turns on you. Done this walk twice and the weather was bad, their is a better hike if ur interested from the opposite side of the Stairway its a bit rugged but more interesting its one of my videos call stairway to heaven via Ben Beg👍
