The heavy drug and alchol use (mostly alcohol) started in 1986. Was at it's heaviest in 87.

@jhgosnell I've seen The Cult 3 times & the last time (September 2010) was by far the best. His voice sounds soooo GREAT :)

All the post-punk snobs can bitch & cry all they want The Cult knew exactly what style/direction they wanted to go musically. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love their 'Dreamtime' & 'Love' albums too, but I'd consider their 'Electric' & 'Sonic Temple' albums as "GOTH N ROLL". 🤘😎🦇 However, they surprised a lot of folks by actually playing "Spirit Walker", "One Horse Nation", & "Go West" (all 3 songs off of their 'Dreamtime' debut album last 2 times I saw them play live in 2016 & 2017. They still played the top hits off of the 'Love' album mostly as encores. Even on their newer albums ('Choice of Weapon' & 'Hidden City') they've actually managed to bring back some of that post-punk goth sound which was their roots. STAY SAFE & GOTH N ROLL! 🦇🎸🥁🤘😷☣
