Are you guys ready for a compliment? I'm a Red Wings' fan living in Ohio, but somehow you have me hooked. Something that's becoming more rare by the day is the art of conversation, and I think that's basically the core of your podcast. A good, respectful and insightful conversation. Much appreciated.

leon's backhand passing reminds me of a mother tiger it can gently lift the cubs up by the scruff of the neck which leon does with a nice soft little easy touch when needed and can rip the throat out of a deer with ferocity which leon does with his deadly rink wide passes over opposing sticks the best backhand passer i have ever seen including gretzky lemieux etc

I'll bring up the suspension discussion again: The league needs to follow the rulebook. They don't need to protect the stars. They need to protect ALL players equally. What is the point of player safety if they don't try to keep players safe? If the refs did their jobs, players wouldn't feel the need to protect themselves or each other. Both players desrved suspensions the last time these teams met, but they shouldn't have felt the need to act that way.

What a brilliant game. Some unbelievable plays and goals -- what a pleasure to watch! Nurse squishing Garland to help Draisaitl launch an insane pass to the charging Hyman. That sequence was magic. Gotta repeat another contention though: I can't subscribe to Garland's hold on McDavid being smart. That was below what any professional or grown-up should be willing to stoop to. My two cents. Anyway, we are so lucky to watch 97 and 29 playing on this blazing team. Thanks again for the podcast.

I couldn't post any numbers for Oilers on the PK as all Oilers Penalty minutes were coincidental and they're not broken out per se (while I could take the 5V5 numbers and substract the EV numbers and the PP numbers that's a lot of work so sorry, no PK TOI numbers (lol)). General Opinion: This was an ass kicking with the Oilers toeing the posterior of Vancouver. They led 5-0 at the 32 minute mark. Corey Perry is the DUDE. The Dude you want on your team and dread if he's not. Lets just say he played the game this night (I mean a DDT to Quinn Hughes, come on and that was during a Garland Scrum too (and he was a bad boy with 2 penalties tonight) and everyone on the Canucks (and Oilers, and in the stands and watching or listening however you do that) knew it. Yes, Hyman 2 Goals and an assist. Leon a goal and 2 assists. That's great. Honestly that first goal by Hyman after the incredible backhand pass by Leon from basically the Oilers goal line to JUST in front of the Canucks Blue line was incredible. Ekholm made an exceptional pass to Henrique too for his wrap around and anyone who says Emberson didn't fight for the puck and win the fight before passing it to Kapanen is blind. Former Oilers Vincent Deharnais was a menace on the ice (for Vancouver) getting 3 penalties (at least one of which was scored on) and it wasn't a good night for him. Few stat notes: Podkolzin: 6 HITS (led in hits) 2 Blocks, Nurse: 5 Hits, 2 Blocks, Hyman: 3 Blocks (had the most blocks for the Oilers). Nurse, Stecher, Perry, and Kapanen all had coincidental minor penalties. Vancouver ate 26 minutes (nearly 1/2 the game) in penalty minutes (of which 8 were coincidental). Oilers were 50% on the PP and since Vancouver had ZERO PP opportunities their PK was 100% (stopping all 0 power plays (lol)). Take care all

David I agree with you about Leon, and Mark Carney. I think Leon has become a more mature and focused player this season. It may be associated with his 8 year contract. Maybe he sees that his future is 100% dependent on the success of the Oilers. Team-wise and also his connection to the City. He’s been dominant this season. And as far as Mark Carney goes, he’s a huge globalist.

I'm sure that finishing the 1st period without being 2-3 goals behind was a huge boost to the Oilers. Pickard has now 100% proved that he's more then "just a backup", even to the most dimwitted hardcore Skinneritte. A full 60 min poised and steady game with excellent goaltending. My word of the game was and is "Poised".

So 2 goals on 14 shots is great? The team didn’t give up the grade A chances last night that they gave up time and time again against Vancouver last game. And the Washington game they didn’t give up a lot of shots but the ones they gave up were grade A chances.

Why is Draisaitl playing his best hockey this year. Might be partly due to so much less stress in his life. Signed the long term deal and doesn't have to stress about proving anything to anybody. The team again had an iffy start this year, nowhere near last season's disastrous start but it wasn't very good. Coming off losing the Stanley Cup in a 1 goal loss in Game 7 of the final, a bit of a sluggish start might be expected but last October had a few people going "Uh-oh." Fortunately the team did find their game and now has a new resilience in their game; a two or even three goal deficit no longer being insurmountable. So the team, and Leon, are less stressed out if they go down a goal or two in a game. Leon is showing less stress and more confidence than he ever has previously in his career, and the Oilers and there fans are reaping the rewards.

I’ve noticed that too … a goalie lets in a goal = bad thing no matter the circumstances. Also, many of his comments have negativity even when he is saying it’s his good thing - and often it is more of the comment (the negativity) than the good thing he is trying to say. Bruce more often looks at the big picture/ complete game facts whereas David often focuses on one play and one part of that play - not factoring in the totality.
