I saw them back in '94 in Atlanta and me and some buddies were across the street at a pub drinking and their bus showed up and next thing I know is Ian was sitting at the table next to us so we bought him a few pitchers of beer and he sat with us and talked for about an hour. He was cool as shit and at the show that night he was singing the Rain and saw us and pointed and yelled at us. It was cool and my girlfriend loves him lol.

I'm glad I bought the "The Cult" CD years ago. I still listen to it a lot when I drive to work :-)

I love this album its very underrated. It wasn't received well by the media because it was bloody raw. Fantastic material!

Billy wasn't wrong. This album is genius, and it got a lot of radio play, and was used on several movie soundtracks. I loved this album and I am a HUGE F**KING CULT FAN!!!!!!! It was just different that's all and people were a little shocked by it!

My fav Cult's album. Not everybodys favs tho. Completely different to the rest.

it was a good album, with some very good songs. But what is incredible is how this album's sound was a precursor of so much music that was coming in those early years.

different sound, extremely playable, 100% darn great CuLT album!

I really do wish they would bring Jamie Stewart back into the fold. That guy had killer bass riffs and really laid down the rhythm section! He and a big bloke of a drummer, like the one playing for Dolores O'Riordan's solo band would make an outstanding rhythm section.

John tempestra is as good as they come. There's a reason why he's been their drummer for as long as he has been.

@@Beaches_south_of_L.A. John is still their drummer. No one can ever replace Nigel Preston but John is a very close second! When I heard his performance on a live '83rd Dream' I thought 'YES!' He is THE DRUMMER FOR THE CULT! R.I.P NIGEL PRESTON 💔🙏🏽

i'm a huge cult fan....but in this interview I think both Ian and Billy were overselling an album they knew was not up to their standard......I'm who comes out and says the critics will call this "genius" .....just a little pretentious !!

sorry dreamtime and love where the best albums i have to say it took along time for the cult to stop there heavy metal act and bring out a alternative sounding album this is what we got and it was just ok not worth the wait

This is quite possibly The Cult's weakest album, and I still give it a 4/5 stars at least! Just shows how amazing this band is!
@Beaches_south_of_L.A.8 жыл бұрын
Weakest? Wow dude. It's not only the cults best but IMHO it's the greatest pound for pound record ever cut in wax, lyrically, musically, arrangements, tracks, production wise blah blah blah, sounding, powerful-wise, deep heavy. How can you explain that massive of a discrepancy? You say it's the cults weakest vs. my placing it as greatest record in the history of rock n roll? It starts out with Gone: So your anger didn't carry you to far whatd you expect anyway there no patience left in your shattered little self you haven't got a fucking thing to say... With that bass, piano... A couple of signature "whoas". Then it goes right into coming down. With each song comes another delightful breath of fresh air that pumps your fucking nads ... Weakest?. Hardly. Its nothing short of a masterpiece written by a bona fide genius. Ian Astbury is the man. Him and Billy are sooo underrated and under valued especially when you compare talent and bodies of work with a guy like Axl rose.
