Thanks for clicking on to my video. This is an iconic walk in The Lake District National Park and Cumbria. The whole work is covered in 5 videos and I'm looking forward to showing you how it was for us. So put the big telly on, grab a drink and let's get on The Cumbria Way!

Hi Tony, Hi Allison. Firstly, congratulations on the £1K subs. Fully deserved. Secondly, Absolutely brilliant. That’s brought back so many amazing memories. We went wrong in a couple of the same places you did. I found the first day OK to navigate, but like you guys I had the route downloaded to n OS maps. If you’re purely relying on way markers then you’d possible struggle through some of the fields. We found it brilliant going through all the points of interest that you have seen on many others videos but seeing it for self is brilliant. Lastly mate, thank you so much for the shoutout and sharing my channel. It’s very kind of you. All the best guys 😃🥾⛰

Thanks mate, it was a great walk in all although I was feeling it towards the end 😂. We had biblical rain for the last 3 miles hence the river in Coniston was in full flow. My pleasure mate, thanks for the advice. I didn’t take sticks and didn’t need them so all good. Looking forward to the next adventure ⛰️😁🥾
@DAoutdoors2 ай бұрын
@@trekkingwithtony Must be something about Coniston. The only rain we had was when it bounced down when we were putting our tent up in the camp site. 🤣

Just completed the Way a week or so ago, had the same issue with ‘odd’ signage. Certainly had to keep referring to the OS App. Great relaxed, natural presentation Tony 👍🏻.

Hi Ian, Yes, it is well worth having the maps downloaded. It’s not the time to be adding extra miles 😆. So glad you got to do it. Thanks Ian, I appreciate it. Enjoy it out there mate ⛰️😁🥾

Hi Tony, im enjoying watching your Cumbrian Way adventure and it gives a good idea what to expect in the challenge ahead. My son did it a couple of years ago in 3 days the opposite way round. Two 30 mile days and I joined him for the last 17 miles from Coniston to Ulveston. It wasnt the best finish with all the confusing fields to get through the last few miles but thoroughly enjoyed it. Watching your video give me chance to see the rest of route to Carlisle. Looking forward to looking at Day 5, the finale! ATB

Hi Tony, I’m glad you are enjoying them and finding them useful😁. The run into ulverston is a tricky one. I’d highly recommend it as a walk and I hope you get some of the other sections completed some time. I look forward to showing you day 5 and the finish line 🏁. Enjoy it out there mate 🥾😁⛰️

Nice to see alison playing a more active part, you usually see her in the distance or the back of her head, she seems very shy. Find your vids very relaxing, one half of my comedy heroes was born in ulverston, been a few times. Stan Laurel. Congrats on the landmark
@trekkingwithtony2 ай бұрын
Hi James, Yes, she’s getting more use to it now 😁. Thanks mate, I’m glad you enjoy them. Indeed, Stan is an Ulverston legend. A great comedy duo 🎭. I didn’t see it but there is a pub named after him there. Thanks for your support mate 🥾😁⛰️

Always wanted to do but haven't yet. Think I will do in stages however as I take my dog's going from Ulverston to Coniston the farm's would be battle ground 😂. May start at Coniston as the first part seems little boring. Looking forward to next video thank-you again xc
@trekkingwithtony2 ай бұрын
Hi Louise, Yes, the first half of day 1 is farms but good to put them behind you when entering the National Park😁. Day 2 was much better for us and everything is clearer once in The Lake District. Also it is easier to get from Langdale Valley to Coniston if you needed to get back to your car. I hope you get to do it soon ⛰️😁🥾

I attempted the Cumbria way in 2022 camping along the ay but it was very hot 27c and I only made it to day 4 before heatstroke hit me and I had to abandon it. tried again Sept 2023 but YHA and B&B it and although it was in the 20's it was easier without the weight and I completed it. I loved the walk and cant wait to do it all again the best way to do the walk is with the Cicerone guide book as it gives exact details of where each gate and stile is
@trekkingwithtony2 ай бұрын
Hi Nic, It was hitting 27 the week before I went and I think I’d rather take the clouds and showers 😅. Glad you got around it, nice one 👍. Great tip on the book 📕. Day 1 in particular is poorly signed. Thanks for your support mate ⛰️😁🥾

Hi Tony. I had the CW planned for last year, but cancelled it due to the rubbish weather forecast. Having watched a few videos I’m glad I did. It’s obvious the farmers north of Ulverston don’t want walkers around. Shame they don’t appreciate that the rights of way were there a long time before they were! That “bull” sign on the gate has appeared on a few videos. Can you recall where it is? It is an offence to display such a sign when there isn’t actually a bull in the field and the sign can be forcibly removed. Hope you enjoy/ed your trip.
@trekkingwithtony2 ай бұрын
Hi Tony, yes, in bad weather it wouldn't be great, mainly due to wet boots and the chance of blisters etc. I got some rubbing due to wet socks as it hammered down on the last 3 miles. Thankfully I knew day 2 was full sun so I look forward to showing you that. The bull sign is a mile before Kendall Ground. I've never seen a bull on anyone's video and to be honest, at that point there is no choice but to carry on anyway 🤣. Shortly after that is the national park and all plain sailing from there thankfully. I hope you get to do it soon mate⛰😃🥾
@grimlightwildoutdoors2 ай бұрын
Great video mate, it looks like more and more trails are falling into disrepair or farmers hide the trails as dont want people on them sad to see 😢
@TonysTrails2 ай бұрын
The farmers make it difficult to navigate over their farms, but then get irate and threatening when walkers go off route. Serves them right! They have a legal obligation to maintain footpaths over the farmland. I refuse to use the term “their land”…
@trekkingwithtony2 ай бұрын
Thanks mate😃. I was surprised at how little wear the path had and the poor signposting pre-national park. It would be in the farmer's interest to clearly signpost as it isn't going to stop anyone who has arranged a multiday hike. `The good news is that once in the national park it is much clearer. Enjoy it out there mate⛰😃🥾
