THIS! The Crow "reboot" would have stood a much better chance at the box office had they NOT recycled the Eric Draven story arc (there literally is a number of other Crow comics they could have used for the reboot of said film franchise other than Eric Draven's if they were too lazy to write an entirely different and brand new story arc of their own)!

People once believed that when someone dies, a crow carries their soul to the land of the dead. But sometimes, something so bad happens that a terrible sadness is carried with it and the soul can't rest. I'm 51, my 18yo daughter was talking about seeing the remake, so I insisted that she see the 94'version first. Rewatching this for the first time in 20yrs hit me like a tonne of bricks. Such a great soundtrack and Brandon Lee has been gone for 30ryrs, so tragic. I obsessed over his father, so followed Brandon closely. Where does time go? The scene where he's putting on make up in the mirror to this song, so powerful. The final scene where Shelly caresses Eric's cheek had me in tears. Such a sweet sorrow though. If I get to relive this pain in another 10-20 yrs time, it'll be blessing. Life is weird. I hate remakes though.

I love this, and based on the trailer I'd hate the remake. This movie never needed a remake! I rarely watch The Crow nowadays because it's such an emotional experience, although I've seen it so many times. Thank you for sharing this beautiful movie with your daughter❤

@@kuuttinen I notice quite a few KZbinrs making videos talking about the 94' version with nothing but praise, some even calling it the perfect movie. Heck I literally only learned last night that The Cure's "Burn" and the STP's "Big Empty" were written specifically for this film, knowing after Brandon died and the actor in the back of the car in the Firebird death scene with the director of John Wick!!(Chad Stahelski who trained with Dan Insanto Bruce's BF). My daughter loved it, didn't like much about the remake at all(sounds cr@ppy). But I get to see the 94' version of the Crow again soon with her BF(who is now curious). I notice she's going very Goth all of a sudden. Which is kind of cool too. "Nothing is trivial".😉

@MrAnon733 ай бұрын
@@vincentdc211 She loved the romantic back story, so got emotional too when Shelly came to the grave site at the end, and stroked poor tired Eric/Brandon's face. The film has so much heart considering its basically a revenge flick. The "mother is the name of God on the lips of children" scene also affected her too I saw. She also loved the soundtrack. Already knows about Robert Smith, Trent Raznor, so when those vocals kicked in she recognised them. That rooftop running scene with Dead Souls playing in the background sums up angst so succinctly and the roof top guitar playing. This film is so timelessly cool. She said the soundtrack in the remake was of no comparison, the lead characters were a couple of junkies too. We've had quite a few post film conversations about Gothic romanticism(my interpretation I guess), about love, being a sensitive person in this world and not taking things for granted/being passionate. I can see its affected her, she keeps showing me Goth style stuff from heavensentandco. So a new Goth has been born. @br4524 I whole heartily agree.

Lol 😆 The 90s were their own thing too, a lot of underrated bands I think. But it started to really die there. I can have fun listening to tunes from the early 2000s, for nostalgia when they came out, I was in high school or right after....but it's never the same as this older music. TLDR, I love most kinds of music, even back to the 1300s LOL , and I agree the Cure is a great one. ❤

"'Don't look, don't look,' the shadows breathe Whispering me away from you 'Don't wake at night to watch her sleep You know that you will always lose This trembling, adored Tousled birdmad girl' But every night I burn Every night I call your name Every night I burn Every night I fall again 'Oh, don't talk of love,' the shadows purr Murmuring me away from you 'Don't talk of worlds that never were The end is all that's ever true There's nothing you can ever say Nothing you can ever do' Still every night I burn Every night I scream your name Every night I burn Every night the dream's the same Every night I burn Waiting for my only friend Every night I burn Waiting for the world to end 'Just paint your face,' the shadows smile Slipping me away from you 'Oh, it doesn't matter how you hide Find you if we're wanting to So slide back down and close your eyes Sleep a while, you must be tired...' But every night I burn Every night I call your name Every night I burn Every night I fall again Every night I burn Scream the animal scream Every night I burn Dream the crow black dream Every night I burn Scream the animal scream Every night I burn Dream the crow black dream Dream the crow black dream... Dream the crow black dream... Dream the crow black dream... Dream the crow black dream..."

This sounds really cheesy but I feel like this song and film changed my life.I saw it on original cinema release back in 94,It was my 16th birthday and had been so excited to see it.I was already a Cure fan but still in that phase of not really knowing who I was and what really did it for me.But when I saw The Crow and heard Burn that night l felt like in that moment I realised this is it..This is mine..I knew I wasn’t like my friends that were into 90s dance at that time,this was where I was supposed to be.When I see The Cure perform this live it has such an emotional effect on me on a profound personal level because it was always something I felt was mine and to an extent feels like a huge part of the soundtrack to my life..Corny I know but that’s the power of music (and film)

Not cheesy at all! 94 was a hell of a year! That scene of the helicopter chasing him as he jumps roof tops was so pure comic pages come to life! The movie was very ASMR, the mood, pace, cinematography, lighting, coldness yet optimistic spirit had a strange familiarity that made you feel a certain way. Even a derelict distressed city or town is still home. The film was in many ways a time capsule that represented great music, style, movies, and imagination of the 80's and 90's. I remember being completely floored at finally realizing who the actor was that played T-Bird. I was a child when I saw The Warriors (1979) and Dreamscape (1984). I was like why do I recognize that voice and smile? Then "..........omg that's David Patrick Kelly!" Mind blown lol! Anyways cheers! 🤘

...the music, this song, the entire FEELING of this movie was such a gripping, bittersweet tribute that was the behemoth talent of BRANDON LEE! ...Lee was signed on to a 5 FILM contract from this movie studio that funded the first The Crow film. Sadly he could not share his love with us for he left us TOO SOON! His talent was paramount and released him from behind the massive shadow of his father, Bruce Lee. Equally poignant was how this film came about at the apex of The Grunge Era! It was oft, but never will be truly duplicated! R.I.P. Brandon Bruce Lee ~ you are forever missed!

Brandon Lee quoted Paul Bowles' The Sheltering Sky , in one of his final interviews ~ "Because we do not know when we will die, we begin to think of life as an inexhaustible well, and yet everything happens only a certain number of times and a very small number really. How many times will you remember a certain afternoon of your childhood, an afternoon so deeply a part of your life that you can't even conceive of your life without it? Perhaps four or five times more? Perhaps not even that. How many times will you watch the full moon rise, perhaps twenty, and yet it all seems so limitless" Brandon's quote is eerily foreboding insofar as it causes pause, did he foresee something?
