The Cure For Harsh / Bright Vocals : Use Tape For Smooth Top End ( Fuse Audio Labs FLYWHEEL )

One trick I use to achieve silky smooth top end when mixing vocals is to use a tape plugin to reduce the hype on the top end. This trick can be used as " the cure " for harsh / bright home recorded vocals.

Hey 2probeats, since you are familiar with the outboard gear, I would be very greatful to receive an advice from you. I am a recording artist, but I also mix my stuff, right now completely in the box. At this moment I own a well treated room, the apollo twin and audio technica 4050 mic. It sounds fine, BUT. I've noticed that I miss that extra depth, more presence, better "rounded" sound on my vocals. Can you recommend me something? I was thinking about a Neve 1073 clone, but the more I read about it (for example AMS 1073, Vintech Audio), the more I notice people are saying it doesn't add much in compare to the apollo unison emulations. Should I go with SSL fusion or Creme for busses, or something else to get that analog sound? Thanks!
