She was the reason this song didn't become #1 at the Hot 100 Billboard charts in October 1989. Lovesong reached #2 and at the same week, Janet Jackson had a single that peaked the top charts for 4 weeks. I wished Lovesong could then steal her the #1 but it descended the next week to #11.

I remember seeing an ENTIRE 14 hrs of various bands playing at an all day concert. The Cure was headlining and I'd never seen them b4. I endured 90 degree sun from 10 am to 6pm. Got drunk, stayed awake thru the hang over and started my buzz again when they finally came on around midnight. I had listened to some seriously grade A bands at the time (the 90's) and when The Cure came on it sounded like they put a CD in and played it. No distortion, no feedback, no mess ups. PERFECT vocals PERFECT everything. I was BLOWN AWAY!!!!!! They still sound amazing 25+ yrs later.

I’ll be the 1000th comment. Speaking as an old school raver who saw them at live at Glastonbury in 1990 - f*cking amazing band. Great live sound and an amazing catalogue of songs. This song just does something to me. Listen to that bass line, it’s amazing. Listen to the riff, it’s amazing and the very brief solo is up there with the teen spirit solo but I believe predates it.
