FUN FACT: Robert Smith has said the inspiration for the song came when his house caught fire. Days later, he was sifting through the rubble and found his wallet which contained pictures of his wife Mary. The cover photo for the single is one of those pictures. The album version is much longer and has an amazing 2 minute intro.

TREAT YOURSELF one day, and listen to the whole album... AS an album. Because it is an old school, kick back, throw your headphones on and take it in ALBUM that takes you on a journey through each of its tracks, one after another. It is a MASTERPIECE. And they earned their induction into The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, last year, with this album (Disintegration) ALONE. It's pure genius. One of my top 10 albums of all time.
@Reani714 жыл бұрын
They did not earn their induction with this album alone, they earned it with their back catalogue of 40 years of great music and a huge variety of styles from post-punk to goth rock, alternative rock, dream pop, psychedelic rock, pop rock and more and lots of great albums that are all different and influenced whole generations of musicians. Before Disintegration the releases of Seventeen Seconds, Faith, Pornography or The Head On The Door have been important and significant already. Disintegration was actually the best-produced and most-dense of them all. And I don't know what you mean by old school, Disintegration is not an old school album in my eyes. From which point of view ? Well of course it came out in 1989 and is almost 30 years old, maybe that is what you mean. It just doesn't sound like that because it is so well-produced. Or maybe you call it old school because you're still young, I don't know. I bought the album when it came out... lol

The cure is a very versatile group. No two songs are ever the same. This is my fav band, seen then 6 times, named my child after a song of theirs, our wedding song is Halo... My husband Shares the same birthday as the singer/song writer Robert Smith. I just adore this band. Sad songs, happy songs, weird songs, exciting songs, depressing songs, dreamy songs... They have a new album coming out soon. It's been 11 years, we have been patiently waiting for perfection.

I've said it before the cure are special and Robert Smith one one most talented singer songwriters alive today, I think too many can't see past the image, many believe them to be miserable and depressing but the cure bring it all happy, positive, dreamy & love songs also... "Friday I'm in love", "Close to Me", "Love Cats", "Lullaby", "in Between Days"... Every album by The Cure contains brilliance "Disintegration" and "The Head On The Door" are two of my favourite albums of all time... Robert Smith's voice has such emotion and always comes across as genuine and heart felt...

The Cure is the band that influenced my whole musical journey for the last 35 years and I am grateful. I will always love them and no matter how many others bands I will fall for The Cure will always be my number one because they affect me on a whole different level, spiritually and emotionally and I think the reason why they are so famous is that many people feel the same. And since most people would always suggest that you react to the succesful and famous songs I want to suggest that you take a deeper cut since you seem to be open for their emotional rollercoaster rides. Therefore I suggest the songs: A Strange Day, The Last Day Of Summer, How Beautiful You Are, Bird Mad Girl and Push. Enjoy !

I love the artistic choice of putting a tropical beach with freezing snow mixed together. Appropriate. Do you know what it can do to your head when you stare at a picture long enough when you truly miss someone and way too much time passes..?? You start to fill in the blanks of the details you might have accidentally forgotten while clutching hard onto a specific memory. Me and my dad… we were really close, and very far away. I was forced to live with my mom out of state during the school year. He always took hundreds of Polaroids during the summer and sent some back with me and filled photo albums with the rest. That’s the best we could get. We both tried not to explode into tears at the end of the summer. Now he’s gone for good. And I grasp onto pictures. Summers are in the past. I wish my memory was better. Don’t take memories for granted. But try not to force them or you might end up with gaps in them and have nothing better to rely on but photos. AND DONT FORGET TO TAKE PICTURES, as long as it doesn’t keep you from living the moment.

Similar artists are the Psychedelic Furs and The Smiths. I am very fond of these bands. I do not use favorites because really with so many lovely songs in the world who can really pick? I will say that they are in the top 50 of a 600+ artist list that I keep. Some artists have 1 song, some have 50+, so as long as they have one song I will enjoy listening to anytime they are on the list. For the Psychedelic Furs I suggest: Heartbreak Beat, The Ghost in You and Heaven. For Smiths: How Soon is Now? and The Boy With a Thorn in His Side. To hear their humorous, yet good songs, try Frankly, Mr. Shankly and Vicar in a Tutu.
