I loved that movie and found this song because of it. Where she reads the letter and her eyes tear up and she slides down the wall, actually had that experience although it was a phone call. Knew right then, the love of my life had slipped through through my hands and I was to blame for that. He passed away before I could tell him what he really meant to me. I believe I will see him again one day and maybe we will be again as we were when we were young and so in love.

The ltr was from her mother. Telling her one of her sisters had a baby before her. Louis and Marie did not conceive for years after marrying. So she started an affair with an officer. Louis was instrumental in the American revolution. But then was slaughtered in the French revolution. They left their heir. A little boy. To starve to death. The only one to survive was their daughter. Who lived abroad.

She captures that aura of a sad despair ridden soul wjo should be on top of the world but can't feel it because shes in too much of a dark place swallowed up by her own empathy amd inner torment and feeling and seeing /visualizing too much darkness deep within....deep intelligent people are more likely to fall off the edge into depression and feeling too damn much...IMHO lol
