I say Lol was better. They are all great in their own unique right. Just depends on the material and the day. Technically Cooper is the best. Boris is the best when it comes to his material (especially fills) and he brings a certain finesse that the others miss. Anderson and Lol bring the energy, precision, and passion than many of the songs need. But Cooper and even Boris can not play some of Lol's material (i.e. Pornography and Hanging Garden). Why Lol gave up the drums, is beyond me and most Cure fans. People's interest change and it is probably for the better that the Cure moved the sound forward or they would have faded away. As commendable as Lol was in his uncanny ability to keep rhythm and timing that drove the band to play faster, he lacked the needed "elements" that Boris would soon bring to the band's sound to keep them relevant in a new social era. Lol and Anderson were punk drummers. Damn good ones at that.

This is probably my first comment on a comment and it's because you said exactly what I think and it's definitely due to what Robert said in the past about him - he was pissed because of the legal actions that Lol took against Robert - that no one seems to credit Lol enough when he definitely deserves it.
