I had not even really thought about those Green pools before but now that i think about it, that makes 3 forms of magic liquid in the Zelda Franchise. Malice, the blue liquid used in Sheikah technology found in BOTW and the green pools in Ocarina of time. Interestingly the colors all correspond to the 3 goddesses, Nayru, Din and Farore. Perhaps these liquids are some form of pure essence from each of the goddesses used to create Hyrule. It does seem to fit as Farore, represented by the color green created life so it stands to reason that it can reanimate corpses, and is often used to represent spirits. Similarly Nayru is the goddess of Wisdom, represented by the color blue who created Law and order, which in terms of the universe can be calculable with mathematics which would explain why Sheikah technology would use a blue liquid. And Malice is red and black and represents Din who is associated with creating the material realm which might explain why Malice is shown as being more of a goop than a liquid and can take shape such as Malice eyes or Ganons Blights.

Ocarina of Time 3D is the newer version of the game, and allowed them to put more details and hints in the environments than they could in the original. @@MonsterMaze But someone other than Nintendo did the actual remaster, right? How do we know they didn't put in stuff they wanted to put in without Nintendo's consent? I just can't consider it 100% canon, feels shoe-horned. Plus with all the mods people add to emulated versions of the game that make it not even look the same.
@karihana3 жыл бұрын
@@blitzgirl6522 Canonicity belongs to the IP holders and those who work on it (the IP), and we don't really decide or have a say about that. By following your logic, a good amount of Zelda games in the timeline are not canon at all because they aren't made by Nintendo EAD/EPD team themselves (Minish Cap, Oracles, Triforce Heroes and most remakes), and so are many books that reveal and explain the lore of the series (notably, Creating a Champion). I'm not going to open the can of worms concerning localisation because following your logic all non-Japanese Zelda games and lore are not canon because the translation isn't done by the creators. If any studio or company is allowed to work on a big IP like this, the creators oversee and it should be considered as canon even if it contradicts the source material from the creator themselves (creators contradict themselves all the time, anyway). That is why Zelda theorists often decide to use the creators' source material for lore rather than spinoffs or something made by third parties if there is a contradiction. Adding worldbuilding and secrets (that may have been originally made by the creators, by the way, since worldbuilding is the first step of making a game) does not make a game noncanon because its original game or the creators were not capable of showing it back then.
@akward42103 жыл бұрын
@@karihana I think that part of the problem that @Blitzgirl is bringing up is that even the creative teams from Nintendo that are aiding these third-party developers involved in these remasters may not even consist of the original creative teams that made the original games. These different team members could still be adding in details based on interpretations that weren't intended in the original game. Even if they did consist of some original team members, creators can still change their opinions about the intentions behind their creative works over time and make alterations to those works in order to "fix" them. This has already happened in the Zelda series with Majora's Mask 3D, where upon revisiting the original game, Eiji Aonuma is quoted to have thought that something was wrong with him back when he was the game's codirector; a lot ended up being changed in Majora's Mask 3D from the original game which upset many fans. We can assume that the added worldbuilding and secrets in Ocarina of Time 3D were from the original creators, but we can also just as easily assume that @Blitzgirl is right and all the additions were from Grezzo or Nintendo team members who had little to no involvement with the original game's development and probably didn't care if a couple new details were added. None of us were there during the development to really know what the creative team's intentions were, besides "Let's replace these blurry textures with more detailed stuff so the game looks better." Nintendo has never been about developing their games around worldbuilding, it's almost always been about developing worldbuilding and story around gameplay.

Great Video! Here's something else to consider. In the game one of the NPCs mentioned Kakariko being opened to the poor of Hyrule by Impa, suggesting that this village wasn't always open to outsiders. Perhaps Kakariko village was originally closed to outsiders, similar to the concept of a Soviet-era 'closed cities' which were used to manufacture weapons or were involved in closely-guarded state secrets? Perhaps the Shadow Temple served as a chief research facility that was eventually converted into a black site for Hylian experimentation while the other tunnels, such as the Well and Dampe's tomb, were planned expansions (as you seem to suggest in your video). Maybe Kakariko Village was deliberately built over the remnants of a Shiekah research station to cover up the research and fallout caused from tampering with forbidden knowledge? You know, once all the undead and demons have been properly sealed away in the ruins.

Great Theory! It could be possible that the energy also pooled in that initial spot Because of the Shiekah’s activities. Whether they knew this or not. You know, I think that Bongo Bongo and by extension the Shadow Temple as well could be connected to the Interlopers, or as they're described in the japanese version, the Shadow Clan. Take a look at Bongo Bongo. He looks VERY similar to the Shadow Beasts of Twilight Princess, heck even his title is *"Phantom Shadow Beast"*. When in direct sunlight, he's either invisible, or visible only as a living shadow, much like Midna does at times. Could Bongo Bongo, in life, have been an interloper? An old man in Kakariko Village speaks of a man "with an eye that they said could see the truth!", and that "his house stood where the well is now". Is it really a coincidence that Bongo Bongo first emerges from the well and that the Lens of Truth is found there? I think not. I think that Bongo Bongo was that very same man. He was once a human being most likely a Sheikah, who due to his greed and hatred, was transformed into a vicious monster. Twilight Princess and the Shadow Temple of Ocarina of Time seem to share a common theme of inner darkness and inner corruption. The interlopers were not an outside force, but were civilians of Hyrule. As stated by a spirit in the Shadow Temple "Here lies Hyrule's bloody history of Greed and Hatred..." Hyrule's worst calamities came from within, and I think that the connections made between the interlopers and the Shadow Temple are too strong to ignore. The Mirror of Twilight, even a small shard, is capable is bringing out the worst in a person and changing them into a horrific monster, as is seen with Yeta, even if they are not bad people themselves. The Fused Shadow is also capable of such a feat. The Mirror of Twilight and the Fused Shadow pieces are even enough to draw in the undead. The darkness attracted the monsters, who gather in both the Shadow Temple and the Arbiter's Grounds in great numbers. So what am I saying exactly? I think that either the fused shadow or the mirror of twilight(or both) were made and kept here, explaining the large concentration of monsters and undead creatures in the Shadow Temple. If Bongo Bongo was able to create the Lens of Truth, who says he stopped creating new things, possibly the mirror of twilight or the fused shadow?

If you go to the old lady's shop behind the regular potion shop, her potions give that same kind of smoke. It's remincent of malice moreso in a way, hurting you when you touch it and presumably reanimating the dead and such, except its shown here to be green to be a visional indicative "it's poisonous, don't walk in it" to the player. I mean unless the "lava" beneath ganon's castle isn't just lava, the coloration of the mask and lens of truth don't make sense if they pulled the green substance from underneath the village. After all, both the mask and lens of truth share the eye of malice, and the lens is the same color as the "poisonous red water" found in skyward sword and the malice goop in botw.

Damn, this makes a LOT of sense! Especially how the green pool at the bottom of the well was randomly dug out, it does indeed look that way so why did I never think of it? If we take inspiration from some fantasy novels then it would make sense to say that, as Hyrule is inherently a place that contains magic, this magic has to be present everywhere in the world in varying higher and lower concentrations. And it might be then that the earth, too, is inhabited by magic in the form of veins running through it like long, thick, liquid roots. And then it just so happened that the Sheikah stumbled upon such a vein. It's not that different from fossil fuels, just that magic has a lot more potential. And here we also have our tie in back into the science of botw.
@MonsterMaze3 жыл бұрын
So magic in Hyrule is kinda like Mana in a sense? Something tangable that exists, and is responsible for the existence of magic.
@Buphido3 жыл бұрын
@@MonsterMaze Yeah, like that! And if we tie that into the interpretation of green standing both for magic and for souls, we can go further and say that magic is the same thing as life force and the magic veins we speculated about are literally the blood of the planet. And it damages Link when standing inside it because, instead of the life force flowing into him in the form of magic, his life force is being sucked out. And also, the green stuff would then again have a connection to redeads because it could infuse dead bodies with lifeforce, kind of like a faux soul, a replica of the real thing, just coming from the earth itself. I mean, let’s look at A Link between Worlds real quick. Isn’t magic substituted for stamina there? And stamina, in a sense, is the energy stored inside the body making it move. Its life force. In that way we could again speculate that ALbW Link is the only Link inherently capable of magic by sacrificing his stamina for power. Luckily it regenerates, because I could imagine that sacrificing more than your stamina would result in damage to your hearts. Wait... Hearts interchangeable for stamina? Botw anyone? :P

Good video but link in OOT actually has access to magic without the use of a magic item. After he is granted magic power by the great fairies, he can do a magic spin attack. This implies that link may have the spirit required for magic but not the reservoir of power needed to fuel it. Also in other Zelda games, link has access to sword beams which are clearly also magical.

Maybe this explains how the Stone & Shard of Agony work too, since if they use this theoretical "Spirit Magic" then maybe they can commune with nearby spirits, or indeed the spirit of the earth itself, to allow the user to find secret places.

Amazing video as always! Interesting to think that there might be more "sacred water" than just the blue stuff we see regularly. Maybe this green water is farores version? If it does have to do with spirits and the like, and farore is supposed to be the one who gave the spark of life to the world if I'm remembering right. (Additionally, I actually did know a woman who's family grew wheat and barley and had a severe gluten intolerance - she couldnt eat anything off the farm much to her frustration.)

It sounds pretty magical when you say it like that so I wouldn’t be surprised if “magic” was just technology, but powered by a different fuel source than traditional electricity

A little late to the conversation, but makes me wonder if the green substance is an intentional parallel to oil. After all, some of it is found at the bottom of a well...🤔 With it being found in the Royal Tomb also makes me wonder if there's a reference/parallel to Emperor Qin Shi Huang's tomb in China, since it supposedly contains rivers of mercury, which was believed to grant extended life, but is actually super toxic. Anyway, cool theory!
@DidMikeMakeThis3 жыл бұрын
I just assume the green shit has the power to bring the dead back to life and the royal family put it in their own graves in the hopes it would do that for them but instead they turned into redead, and then bongo bongo was in the room full of it for the same reason, to try and make himself a new body.
@dayshallcomeagain3 жыл бұрын
That was a thought I had as well. I always found it strange how the poem in the royal family's tomb is for the royal family, and yet all it talks about is the tortured undead beings residing in the crypt. The redeads possibly being royal family members as well has always been an idea I had.

Y'know, now that I think about it. What does the Triforce of Courage really do? I mean, does it just make you really courageous? As dumb as that sounds. Triforce of Power grants enhanced strength physical or magical. Triforce of Wisdom, grants intelligence and magical powers. But the Triforce of Courage just doesn't seem to do much.
@AidanRatnage3 жыл бұрын
@@elitegamer9310 Yeah, it doesn't seem to do much at all, when Ganondorf took the Triforce of Power in OoT Wisdom and Courage went to Zelda and Link because they are the bravest and wisest Hyruleans so the other 2 pieces make the Princess and Hero just more so of one of their traits, maybe? In ALttP Ganon had all 3 pieces and he was still sealed by the 6 Sages and Zelda so maybe she doesn't even need a piece to use magic either. The only times where the Triforce pieces actually does anything other than grant a wish is in TP where it turns Link into a Wolf instead of a Spirit and stops Zelda becoming a Spirit and arguably Zelda's Sealing power in BotW (which is theorised to be the full Triforce) which as well as sealing Ganon allowed her to kill a bunch of guardian stalkers with ease at Fort Hateno.

I guess the cucco lady inherited her cuccos from her parents and was forced to carry on the family business despite her allergies 🤷🏻♂️ *edit; Also, the Stone/Shard of Agony was said to have been made from a Gossip Stone. The Pirate’s Charm in TWW was also said to have been made from a Gossip Stone, and appears to be made of the same material as the Shard of Agony. This means that the inside of a Gossip Stone has the appearance of a green crystal, which makes another connection between the Sheikah and the green substances. I think the Sheikah constructed the gossip stones using the green substance as sort of security cameras that would collect data and intel on what happens around them. They probably also infused the stones with human souls so that they would be sentient and have the ability to convey information. The sheikah would use special items, such as the Mask of Truth, in order to extract the data the stones had collected. So yeah, the royal family had the sheikah construct magic cameras to spy on the people of Hyrule.

I agree apart from the green goop being dug up. I always interpreted it as the restless souls of the executed prisoners accumulating and becoming so dense that they manifest physically, and that this energy is also what's resurrecting the dead.. the hands sticking out of it being buried corpses in the process of coming back to life after coming into contact with it. The sins of the Sheikah coming back to haunt them.

Seeing what the Royal Family was involved with, it makes me sympathetic to Ganondorf. I wonder if Hyrule's dark transformation after Ganon assumed power was mostly due to what the royals had already done. It makes me hope for a redemption arc for Ganondorf since he ain't the only one with blood on his shoes. He is a very tragic figure, and he's a rarity of his own kind being that he's a male in a vaginocentric gene pool. That said, he's no angel. He did evil and received evil as his reward. But as shown in the BotW 2 trailer, he is probably the most tormented/bound soul in all of Hyrule due to the pride and anger that he let drive his life. I'm hoping that Malice isn't his true nature. I'm hoping he's just delusional due to his misplaced pride/misguided anger. I know Ganon felt pangs of pain for his own people cuz we got to see that softer, more mature side of him in Wind Waker. And sure enough, he cared deeply for the Gerudo, knowing that were repeatedly scorched by the harsh desert winds. If the Triforce that was split between him, Link and Zelda were to come together rather than fight each other, they could probably undo the perpetual threat that Demise brought with his vow. Being that he's an imprisoned demon, Demise will always need a vessel to help carry out his will. To me, it seems like Ganon is the perfect puppet because of Ganon's strength/pride/oppressed origins. Ganon's reasons for embracing hatred makes logical sense when the past sins of the royal family are taken into consideration. Imagine if Ganondorf finally got the wherewithal to resist darkness and serve Hyrule as a partial bearer of the Triforce should. If anything, he's had his ass handed to him so many times by that green larping elf boy and his bae blade that he should be starting to have some real respect for Link by now. Like maybe even a respect enough to turn against the forces that manipulated him from within. But I dunno. In that BotW 2 trailer he just looked *royally pissed* to see Lonk and Zeldy farting around in his tomb. Maybe he's just past the point of no return. 😔
