I have watched an interview with Ian in Russian after the victory in rapid, he said that Nihal is very strong and very talented, said that today he himself played worse than Nihal and responded with great respect Therefore, I do not know why this attitude is towards Ian, he is a top-class player, has been playing with the best grandmasters for many years, has been at different points in his career and knows the rules of the game well. Top players follow the rules to avoid misunderstandings in the future. It's really hard to tell from the video whether Nihal said something or not, but it was completely silent. Therefore, if Ian didn't look at him, he could not see the movement of his lips and call the referee, since he knows the rules of this tournament. So I think, everything is fine, just quite an unusual case, I didn't notice any racism or rage on the part of Ian. And Nihal has a great future ahead of him, he is just starting his career as the top grandmaster Chill guys 👌

Funny that the exact same thing happened between Nihal and Nepo in World Blitz 2019 (there is a video on this channel). Nihal didn't even adjust the piece. If you zoom the video, he moved the rook forward and when his hand was leaving, he moved the rook backwards at the same position before touching it. So I don't see the point of "adjusting" it if you left the rook in the same place. The rook was not badly placed and also I don't understand why players say "adjust" in such a low tone that you can't differentiate if they are saying anything at all. People keep saying that Nihal said something but seriously after repeating it several times I barely can't notice something. I would say I don't even see his mouth moving, neither hear something from him (unless indians talk barely not moving his mouth and I miss something). People need to start realizing that there is nothing wrong saying "adjust" loud enough in a playing room. The opponent need to hear. The opponent is not a pigeon with the ability to hear extremely low frenquency sounds. Just say it loud enough. Btw, Nihal seems to have a very nice character. This was not an attack on him. But people should start acting normal in "adjust" moments

Typical escaping strategy to shift the blame to others. If Nepo did that to another russian you couldn't say it was done for racist reassons. In top level , when adjusting they don’t say “adjust” . But in this game Nepo complains to the arbiter that Nihal did not say adjust . Even tho Nihal did not mean to touch it he meant to adjust. I believe Nepo did this on purpose cuz he knows that Nihal is adjusting but he complains to get advantage in the game. If Magnus was there instead of Nepo , he would never even try to complain in a situation like that. That’s 1 reason why I don’t like Nepo even if he become the world champion. Learn Nepo!!!

If you see at 4:34 Nihal touched Rook but played Bishop. There is a rule if you touch a piece without informing your opponent that you are adjusting your piece than you have to play it. @cooloutac

@@BM-ks8vl if you watch again. Nihal tries to make eye contact with nepo, nods his head repeatedly, then mouths something one would assume adjust or jadoube, then another final emphatic nod and facial expression to emphasize as he is making the adjust. And with so much time on the clock in a classical match hard to believe Nepo misconstrued it for anything else. I doubt he would of done that to Giri cause Giri would of made a scene. he knows Nihal is too nice and quiet and many take advantage of him. Thats why Nepo was smiling and laughing as he called the arbiter m he knew he could get away with it. But there is no rule that a player must shout the word and wait for his opponents acknowledgement, because that would give petty players like Nepo a way to take more advantage. The rule is there to determine intention and I don't know how the arbiter could of looked at the video and sided with Nepo. Pretty unsporting and shameful imo. Smells like racism.

Nepo didn't do this to Magnus who did it in every match and then had to get reprimanded by the arbiter in the wcc. And as Magnus said in the press conference when pressed by a reporter about it, Magnus says it literally happens in every single chess game and shouldn't be a big deal. I personally believe Nepo called arbiter because Nihal is Indian, and because as you said he knows NIhal wasn't going to stand up for himself. But what if it happened in different position ? Like here 7:12 If he adjusted rook here , Nepo did not hear it ( or pretended not to hear it ), he had to take the knight with rook. Which would mean losing the exchange and most probably the game too 14...Rxc6 15.b4 Nc4 15.Bxc6+ bxc6 Nihal is so humble and modest, he did not protest much because he knew he can make with rook almost as good move as he did with bishop . But what if he was forced to play losing move ? Somehow arbiters must decide who said "adjust" before touching the piece and who did not. One player`s word against other word is not good enough.

@@cooloutac Bruh, firstly Nihal should have said it louder, second nepo was looking at the board and not Nihal's face so he had no way of knowing. In no way was this Nihal's or Nepo's fault. It was simply a mistake on the arbiter's part for not looking deeper into the situation. Nepo wasn't taking advantage of anyone, there was just confusion. Also Nihal could have challenged it and told the arbiter to look at the video
@vishalkhombare
@vishalkhombare Жыл бұрын
Nihal has a habit of repositioning pieces to the perfect center of the board squares. I have observed this many times. He probably dislikes even slightly mispositioned pieces and corrects them with typical, robot-like hand movements: fast when reaching the misaligned piece, then suddenly slow while adjusting its position. He usually says "adjust," but this time he either forgot or placed too much trust in his opponent's sporting spirit and common sense, believing that Nepo would be understanding. In actuality, uttering the word "adjust" can disrupt both the player's and the opponent's train of thought. There should be an alternative method, such as signaling beforehand with a gesture and then touching the piece. For instance, in cricket, players gesture to the umpire after completing a run, waving a hand to the leg umpire to indicate they aren't intending a second run and are "leaving the crease" simply to meet another player or check the pitch. Similarly, in chess, a player could gesture with a "Namaste" or a "Bao Quan" from martial arts, adjust the necessary pieces, and then repeat the gesture when finished. This way, the train of thought for move analysis is less likely to be disturbed. Speaking during a chess game, regardless of whether you're the opponent, can be quite distracting. This has been my experience. Chess requires further reforms, not just for piece adjustments but also for recording moves. When we have cameras and boards connected to computers, why insist on manually writing moves? It should be optional. Players could simply mark the move number to keep track of forty moves if they wish, or this could be displayed electronically on each player's side of the board.

" For instance, in cricket, players gesture to the umpire after completing a run, waving a hand to the leg umpire to indicate they aren't intending a second run and are "leaving the crease" simply to meet another player or check the pitch." No such RULE exists for cricket. At the moment this is 100% convention based & depends solely on the discretion of umpires. The situation in cricket is so absurd that whether batsmen intended to take another run or ball was dead is being referred to 3rd upmire insted of onfield umpire. Also you might not like eccentric habits of individuals but unless they violates stated rules, opponent must learn to tolerate others. And you must carefully REWATCH at 4:34 Nihal CLEARLY spoke "ADJUST" & refrees should acertain only that whether it was audible to opponent or not. They even offer draw very slowly in respect for other ongoing games nearby.
@vishalkhombare
@vishalkhombare Жыл бұрын
@thevagabond85yt At 4:34, it appears Nihal softly uttered "ADJUST". While some might perceive this as evident, it's quite a subtle observation. I believe that at that moment, only Nihal and perhaps some higher power could truly hear him. Such nuances can have significant implications in a game, potentially leading to unintended moves...and loss of game!
@cooloutac

@vishalkhombare not only did he say it he gave a headline and facial expression to emphasize the adjust. And it's extremely unsporting and petty of Nepo to call the Arbiter in the classical match with so much time on the clock. This is why General Society has never respected chess players or consider chess a sport. It's just too snobby exclusive and political. The video absolutely is evidence because it's all about the intention which is the reason for the rule. There is no rule that you have to say it loud enough to get acknowledgement from your opponent lol. And you almost never hear anyone do that.
