The Current Meta Sucks in Smash Ultimate

The current meta in smash ultimate sucks and it's very difficult to work around the non approach tactic. This is a problem in the smash community and it's slowly making me lose my love for the game.

I think all the meta characters ruin the idea of a momentum based match and create their own momentum throughout the match which is really really annoying

I still vastly prefer Ultimate over previous Smash games, where low tiers were basically unusable in a serious setting

I believed this game was always gonna head down this road for the game being too safe. I feel as if dodging in this game needed to be toned down. Air dodging and landing needs to be WAY MORE laggy. Like how it was in smash 4. The fact that you can land so freely in game with frame 3 jump squats I find is a major problem. I feel that my opponents just mash attacks then mash dodges even when I try to bait it and they're still safe. After awhile I tell myself I'm not risking anything when its hard to catch the opponents landings as it. Which forces the campy gameplay. I knew one day all it took was characters like Sonic and Steve to force everybody else to play like that. Then after awhile you start telling yourself why even bothering playing when the gameplay is just standing around or play characters that force you to fight them.

@@renattoretro6593 It's what frustrates me the most in this game. It's way too hard to catch landings. Then some opponents become really boring because of it. I wish this game had more patches. I feel like they barely touched the game. And now we are in the late game of Smash and we need them more than anything now.

I think the meta isn't necessarily campy. I think it's actually 2 sides of extreme. Sometimes you see Sonic and Steve camp you out and wall you. The other time you see Peach and Kazuya kill you in one combo. The other thing to highlight is that now the division between each tier felt more apparent. Cause now the Top Tier are characters that show up in Top 8. The high tier is a character you occasionally see. The Mid Tier are the characters you sometimes see. And the Low tier will be in the top 8 maybe once in a blue moon!!!

Well you still see kazuya and peach stay back a lot of the time waiting for you to make a mistake and then hitting you with a insta death combo

@@riqua27 not really since kazuya also has difficulty aproaching with poor ground speed and not great burst movement options. Sure when he can land that first hit it’s most likely ends with a stock but he still needs to land that hit and in the current meta it still takes a while to do that. Plus he still needs to do that at least 2 more times in order to win the game. And that’s if he can get the stock off of one interaction every time which with a human playing him isn’t very likely

Sonic tho top tier, is definitely overrated, only old top players that grinded for years are doing good with him, defeating him boils down to a test of patience and not mashing, he doesn't really benefit from going to other side of the stage and camping ,he's lightweight and can be walled out since his spindash is negatively disjointed. steve isn't as broken as bayonetta4 or metaknightbrawl but he definitely comes close, he never approaches since camping and building walls in a platform fighting game benefits him greatly (i hate cheap kills with block offstage) mining diamond and gold, having incredible framedata,has combos that deal a TON of damage and he kills superearly, he's normal weight but he survives way longer than super heavies because teching block behind him can make killing him actually miserable. there is counterplay, but this game is not for spectating.

Idk what you mean by "old top players" but it kinda just sounded like you said "sonic is good because sonic mains are good." Sonic also has i frames on spin dash so telling someone to just "wait and wall him out" isn't that great of advice

@@CoVa923 the best sonic players used to grind since the wii u days or before, no good top player just picked him up like what top steve mains did (with all my respect to them) and started winning majors. sonic as a character is good af but he is not easy to use. sonic has s yes, but only the first 6 frames on spindash so just respect it and keep center stage, also ''wait and wall him out'' is literally what zomba and shadic did to sonix.
