Some of the pits kits I built last year had traction magnets that were painted wrong. This caused the cars to run backwards if you assembled them according to the kit instructions. You had to disassemble the car to pop the magnets out and turn them around, which was a headache to have to do. I sent Auto World an e-mail about the issue, and they told me they would look into it. Not sure how many kits went out to stores with this problem, but maybe AW has made an effort to catch the problem. You don't want to have an unhappy customer, because then they won't buy your product again. My local Hobby Hobby has them on the shelves as of 1-18-2025, so maybe the problem has been fixed.

You're right, and I had a number of them with the backwards magnets as well. I've picked up some of the new ones and the magnets have been inserted and correct. I just made an update video about the pit kits yesterday, here's a link if you're interested: kzbin.info/www/bejne/b4vQo3hrfNV0j8U

I was wondering why I haven't seen them for a while. I know I've encountered several kits with scattered parts and I got one of those Super III NASCARs that keeps popping the rear motor bushing cap out and binding the motor. Most of them have been excellent though, I've gotten some serious race cars out of the Mustang TJet and the 4Gear Van with just a bit of tinkering. Can't wait until they're back. Thank you so much! Yeah, they can be very good racers. Those Super III's can be problematic to build and run well, though. Let's hope they return with something special!

glad to see some positive feedback. I have had some really fun and fast racers out of the AW Ultra G chassis and some 4Gear as well.

They need to come back with the old pit carry cases with the parts packed in them like yellow,orange ,red,etc...

@RobertSchildt-vt8yw Slot car companies are introducing and reintroducing great stuff all the time, so hopefully someone will step up and bring these back. I never had one, but it sounds very handy!

Rumor around the campfire some kid(s) apparently swallowed pieces and or magents resulting in a trip to the er resulting on the kits being pulled and when they do come back out the mags might be pre set into the chassis. Anyone with common sense would know not to out these parts in their mouths but then again we live in the tide pod age. Hell ive been bugging about semi truck pit kits, id love to see them someday. Of course the window lickers at HL have no idea why and rumors again here that HL just threw those remaining kits in the dumpster. Wished i knew about that day dammit. We'll we watching to see what the fall brings.

Yeah, I heard the speculation about what the problem could be, just hoping they bring them back in some form. A semi is a fantastic idea! I would love to see that! I would have loved to be able to dumpster dive at the end of the Aurora era, and possibly at Hobby Lobby now, too! Lol!

that would be a shame if they really did toss them all.... 2024 Darwin Award winner. should not impact their product. IMO that's not on AW at all to have to do anything about that. /SMH

It's October and they still don't have them on the shelves hopefully they will be back soon.

$12.99.....I don't think so. What you're showing here is the deluxe pit kit..... $ 22.99.

IDK, I am pretty sure I've seen them for as low as $10 a pop. I've gotten a few free as well. they tend to not be expensive. $23 sounds high to me, but who knows, market prices may vary by location and local market demands etc.

@rodrossi9749 Yes, they were about $13 at Hobby Lobby, a great deal. You can still buy entire brand new Auto World slot cars there for $19.99, if you're lucky enough to have one in your area. I'm right in the middle of 3 stores, a 10 minute drive to any of them.

@MoonDogSlotCarRacing You are so right, they sometimes went on sale at Hobby Lobby as buy on get one free, and I was able to stock up on a few of them for $6.50 each!

$12.95 was the everyday price at all 3 Hobby Lobby stores near me.
