I know about this so called curse. But there is no evidence that Guttmann actually said those words. It was never confirmed by the board or the players from that era. It's a rumor that has been spread, mainly by the media back then and started to take on a life of its own . And even if he did spoke those words, it's only superstition. The reason Benfica lost all of their eight European Cup finals since then is just bad luck or because the opponent was better. But of course, when they keep losing finals it gives the believers a reason to keep the legend of the curse alive. The only way to debunk this myth is to win a European Cup in the upcoming years to at least before 2062 😁. But winning a European trophy nowadays is much harder than back in the 1960's. Football has evolved a lot, especially the past 20-30 years, and there are many clubs with much greater budgets than Benfica. Someone with the class of Eusébio would not be playing for Benfica nowadays. But it's a great story nevertheless.

@@12THMAN-e5v I really wish and hope that Benfica soon wins a European trophy. Such a great club deserves it. But it is very hard to compete with the top teams of the Premier League and La Liga nowadays.
