that second basico, the third man concept is so key. creating linking play can just shred aggressive an defence.

Really love the content. I personally don’t prefer unopposed environments, but I get why they can be so useful. A game I do at least once a week with my U9/10s is a game with two 2v1s and a player in between who can “help” either rondo. It’s a great activity for scanning, support and off the ball movement. It progresses to a simple 3-zone 5v3 activity to goal, then finishes 5v5 free play. That said, maybe I should be using a bit of unopposed pattern play. Really appreciate watching your videos for a different perspective in a really positive forum!

Great video. Our team has figured out the importance of passing. Now we just need technique and transfer passing tactics to gameplay. This is a great drill to help out. Keep em coming!!! 👍

Rory - Quick tip for you - Put some Amazon affiliate links to the dummy defenders, gear etc you use so people watching this video years in the future can generate some money for you. Just compensation for putting out such great content. I was immediately on Amazon after looking for them and can't find it. Thank you!

Love the second example and teaching the 3rd man run. Reviewing all your 7v7 videos. Starting next week as the lead age group coach for my clubs 2016 girls. 30 girls that train as a pool, but compete as three teams. Tricky part is I have 10 who played 7v7 a year early. So need to continue to challenge them, but bring the rest of the group up to speed.

Hi Coach Rory, your training videos are awesome. I’m coaching Rec U10 this fall and will be using a lot of your activities. I was wondering where you got the soccer mannequins in your video? I looked on the internet and could only find pricey ones. Thanks again.

Hi Coach, so grateful for this idea! Movement off the ball is the golden goose for these kids, so hard to teach. I have a group of players who have never heard the concept of losing their man or checking away in this way. Would you recommend teaching them this concept in a simpler set up first (like in pairs, just practicing checking away and then back toward the ball to each other) or just teach them the idea right here in this drill? Thanks, you are a lifeline!
@CoachRorySoccer4 ай бұрын
Depend on the level but yeah you could also start in a simple triangle padding pattern and have them check in/out in a basic circular passing motion. Depend on the age and level but most of the teams I’ve worked with can grasp this concept like this pretty easily.

Coach, where do the basicos come into play in your practice sessions? I know 3Four3 has "Losing Your Man" passing patterns that they use at the beginning of practice as warmups. How often do you train this pattern? Thanks again for another great video.
@CoachRorySoccer4 ай бұрын
Yes I do this often at the start. You could have this setup and a battle box or two next to it and rotate the kids through depending numbers.

Ive been working on the first variation and plan to start the 2nd today. Saw some of my players do the first move in the game last Saturday❤. Question: is there a specific game scenario youd suggest doing this second variation in? After they get it in the drill, i want to have them practice it in their positions so that they are more likely to use it in a game. Thanks

I'm 9v9 running a 3 4 1 similar to a 3 2 3

Second variation is meant to represent back to pressure situations. This could happen almost anywhere on the field.
