Charlotte, I respect you totally. It's one thing to actually DO something when it comes to trying to change history, and it's quite another (and I think that's just too bad) to just sit in the corner and snipe away in comfort. It's why people look for the Dutchman mine in Arizona, the Pink-headed duck in India and the money pit in Nova Scotia: the instinct of "the quest". is something that lies inherent in all of us - Mallory understood this: it's why the theme goes all the way back to Rex Artur and the graal Have a go if you want to, folks, but it's something unignorable in some people and it matters to some people.

I had wondered about buried treasure, until looking into Nova Scotia history, then the truth became very apparent. Oak Island was a mining operation just like other areas of very close approximation in Nova Scotia. What ore is it that Nova Scotia is well known for? GOLD.... This also explains how Samuel Ball became so wealthy with little to show for how he acquired such wealth..... Everything dug up on the island by the Lagina brothers and their partners, supports mining operations, From the massive timbers buried 100s of feet in the ground to the fragments of human bone, shards of pottery and crib spikes. Even the slipway was a process method for loading and unloading ships necessary to support the mining operations. The small box found at the bottom of Smiths cove is exactly like the ones used atop shaker boxes. ............................................. The "Money Pit" is not where people buried gold, its where they mined for gold, which is why the Lagina brothers keep digging up mine shaft support timbers. They really aren't misleading the public when they say searcher shaft because miners are actually "Searchers" as they not. Eventually however the truth will come to light and we will all breathe a sigh when we hear the announcer say............ Gold Mining ....on Oak Island ? ....

I don't believe there's anything under the ground on Oak Island, however if there is the only way they're ever going to reach it is if they back up and away from the original hole ,and after retrieving about 1200 ft or further back they must mine in on an angle downhill to the pit just as if they was digging a regular mine.. dig down grade gradually until you're deep enough and then over to the pit itself... that's the only way they will every reach the source of whatever is creating all the hoopla

THE "MONEY PIT" IS NOTHING BUT AN OLD MINE. During the first season, it was revealed that the British had mined for gold on the island, but found "fool's gold" (iron pyrite) instead. This would explain the deep pit, with platforms at 10' intervals. It is possible that pirate captain Anderson, or the "Pirate Admiral" Peter Easton, perhaps buried treasure there. However, pirates generally returned to reclaim their "deposit". The small findings of trinkets & metal pieces confirm this theory.

I have a question for Marty or Rick......something that I have been curious about since I saw the episode where Mr. Nolan's son or grandson gave you all the key that Fred had found on his part of the lots.....my question is, in its closed position I noticed the the butt of the key slightly resembles Oak Island and that there is a cross within that.....if laid over a scale picture of the island, does that cross land on a specific location on the island.......just curious

If there were not a searcher shaft in the area they are positioned, I could see why you would not be able to find those pieces.
