The stone path could go to money pit area to Smith's Cove's weir/possible defense fort. To move cannon and supplies. The stone/earth snake like structure could have been a defence line and a road could go there also. The fire pit could have been used to heat treat end of sharpened logs for pilings and weir construction.

I agree with you wholeheartedly! I also believe Samuel Ball was a big contributor to what was going on the the swamp and the location of the treasure! Was he a spy? Was he a smuggler? He was more than a cabbage farmer! Archeology is very seldom “X” marks the spot! It can take 100’s of years to make a big discovery! Look at the statue of Alexander the Great found in 2019 by Calliope Papacosta. She has been excavating for 14 years in the same place in the Shallotte gardens in Alexandria BEFORE she found the gorgeous marble statue of Alexander.

There are many islands in the area that have a swamp feature like oak island. Covey, Young's, Rafuse, Meisner and Middle islands. If oak island has a sunken Spanish ship in it the other could too. Maybe a fleet, partial hurricane survival fleet or individual ships were captured and each was disposed in a similar manner.

It's already been established that people were there on the island at that time. No one goes to such lengths to hide treasure. The man power. The ingenuity and time to bury a treasure to such depths. Then booby trap it is a bit much. We are talking ridiculous effort on an island that was basically void of anyone living there. It would have taken years to do that much work to bury treasure.
@lewisdoherty7621
@lewisdoherty7621 3 жыл бұрын
@Derek Jackson The dimensions of "The Money Pit" are based on often conflicting descriptions by teenagers handed down through multiple people. There are no flood tunnels. The island is made of glacial till surrounded by the ocean and is pours. The island has a freshwater water table floating on top a denser salt water table. What was declared flood tunnels were trash trenches dug to hide coconut fibers and other packing materials from smuggled rum and/or part of the tar kiln filtering process. The rock roads on the island were built by the South Sea Company in 1720-22, so that oxen could drag logs floated in to the island up to the wood yard and tar kilns and some of the logs back down to cargo ships to go back to the shipyards in Britain without the drag area becoming a muddy trench. The oxen had to be shoed to operate on stone surfaces. That is why oxen shoes are found.

Got attention on Oak Island, covered in story by Douglas Preston and Lincol Child "Riptide". When spare time allows, following the work at O.I. From science side I'm very disappointed about the countless drillings and (the way it shows up on TV) uncoordinated diggings. A bit here, a bit there, some excavation over there, some expert finding ancient map ... digging somewhere else ... That makes the series hard to follow. On the other side: What if the chamber still hosts the treasure, containing interesting paperwork (watertight construction) and they crash the concrete encapsulation ... .... Regarding the financial part, that a bounch of episodes do some "return of invest" at pay TV and streaming services: I would be happy about more focusing on one red line, each episode. The archilogical part (swamp), drilling at the Money Pit area and so on. The mixture and endless interviews drive me to fast-forward junkeie ... sorry.

I hope they find something after all the time and money they've invested. They're good guys, and it'd be cool to see the mystery solved (assuming there is really a mystery to be solved). That said, I have my doubts. They're so invested and want so badly to find the treasure that they make connections where there are none, and just sort of see what they want to see. It's like every little thing they find MUST be connected to the money pit in some way. But, in all likelihood the things they find are just the result of people having lived and worked in the area for hundreds of years. People lose coins all the time. Pottery breaks and gets buried. The fact that people made pitch on that island hundreds of years ago is not surprising...it's an island. Boats came and went all the time (which would have needed to be fixed, resealed, etc.). None of that means that it is connected to the money pit, and none of it confirms that there is treasure of any kind buried there. I love the show, but part of me is almost saddened to watch what "gold fever" has done to these guys. I wouldn't be shocked if they found nothing and ended up broke. It'll be interesting to see how this comment ages, but I'm pretty sure they won't find anything.
