The Koh-i-noor diamond once adorned the magnificent Peacock Throne at the Red Fort in Delhi. Today, it sits pretty on the British Queen’s crown in London. In its 700 years of documented history, the Koh-i-noor was coveted by the most powerful kings, has changed hands many times, and has travelled half-way across the globe. And wherever it went, it toppled kingdoms, ended dynasties and left a trail of destruction in its wake. Is it any surprise that it acquired a reputation of being a cursed stone? Watch this short video to follow the tumultuous journey of the sparkling diamond that literally means ‘mountain of light’.

Hi, first my congratulations for such awesome effort! In this video though, there is slight need of correction. At 6:41 you mention that till date the diamond was only worn by British queens. While this information is not wrong, this is not correct either. Britain has 2 types of queens: 1) Queen Consort--- some one who is Queen because she is married to the King of UK and 2) Queen Regnant--- Queen by birth right (like Queen Elizabeth II etc). Out of these 2 types, only Queen Regnants are actually rulers, they reign (Queen Consorts are not rulers in any way). Now, since the curse of the diamond seemed to affect the "rulers" who possessed it, it was (heresay) decided that this diamond will only be passed on to Queen Consorts! Thus this diamond has now been put in the crown of the Queen Consort (this crown does not form a part of the British crown jewels). So the Queen Regnant (like Queen Victoria or Queen Elizabeth II) never used this diamond. The crowns used by the rulers (ie the King or Queen Regnants) are: 1) St Edward's Crown also called the coronation crown: this is the crown which is used to "crown" the ruler during coronation ceremony and 2) the Imperial State Crown: exquisite, bejwelled crown which monarchs use right after coronation and during other ceremonies like State Opening of Parliament. Kohinoor does not sit in any of these two crowns. So, my request is, please cross check the information and make necessary corrections accordingly. Thank you!

This comment is 99% correct. The minor errors are: Queen Victoria did wear the Kohinoor. It was first set in an armband that could also be worn as a broach before it was recut. You can see the broach in the video at 5:49. There is a replica of the armband set with a replica of the original stone on display at the Tower of London. Also the Kohinoor is currently in the Crown of Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother which is the crown shown at 6:16. This is not the crown of Elizabeth I as stated in the video who ruled and died long before the British came to India There are also 5 types of queens in the UK. In addition to the 2 types in the comment, there are also: - Queen Dowager who is the widow of a king - Queen Mother who is Queen Dowager but also the mother of the reigning monarch. - Queen Regent is a Queen consort that rules in place of an absent king (ie while her husband is away or Queen Dowager that rules while her children are too young to rule)

@@r88r88 Thanks indeed for the fact checking of my comment and such well written reply. Mentioning the other types of queens (Queen Dowager etc) completely escaped me. Once again thanks for such a well-written reply!

How silly? The names Hyderabad and Golconda (at the time Golconda Sultanate included Kollur Mine and brahmin traders called Golconda vyaparulu from the Kollur area traded diamonds) were attributed to a much bigger geographical area at the time when they were referred to as the Diamond Capitals. The present day Hyderabad and Golconda do not include the older areas which were the main locations for Diamond and Pearl excavation or mining.

[9:5] But when the forbidden 4 months are past, then fight and slay the Pagans wherever you find them, and seize them, beleaguer them, and lie in wait for them in every stratagem (of war); but if they repent, and establish regular prayers and practise regular charity, then open the way for them: for Allah is Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful.[Quran 9:5-5 (Translated by Yusuf Ali)] Our great grandfathers have suffered a lot 🥺💖

Yes. Islam's answer is violence and war. Jesus and Moses never taught to spread the faith by war. One of the prophecies of Jesus was: "He shall be called, 'Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.'" Prophet Isaiah's book 9:6 in the Old Testament of the Bible

How can you say the brits remain uncursed? Britain was the unsolicited power back then , the kingdom that spreads over the globe. Just see where they stand post WW2 and what had they lost since ww2. Look at the present situation of UK. It ve more refugees than the native British. So ,your statement of brits being uncursed is absolutely wrong .
