Getting an Ace in the Duck has been one of my most cursed challenges ever. Today I sought out to see if I could take the Hs 129 B-3 and get 5 kills with it in War Thunder!
This 75mm wielding wonder weapon is one of the most fun things to use in Ground Realistic Battles. The Duck is unwieldy to fly, lacks defensive armament and falls to pieces with even low calibre rounds. It's actually pretty difficult to pick a target out and line a shot up, but when it hits... it packs a wallop!

Tail wobbles so much that you cannot aim, and it flies like an absolute brick. It doesn't even like taking off, you have to fight with it to stop it from immediately dropping out of the sky the moment you get it in the air.

The other problem is you can get ammo racked and loose all your ammo relatively easily in that thing. At least it used to be like that. 3 kills would be still be tricky but doable

U should try the 110g2 next. Its quick firing 37mm rips tanks in both air and ground battles or can also be fitted with extra 20mms. And it’s still got 2 mk108s in any config. All at 3.7. Flies decent too

@@crazyadam9281 yeah out of the 3 German tank destroyers its the easiest to use. If the Bf110G-2 had mg151s instead of mk108s it would be the ultimate CAS.

410 50mm is a way better CAS for man. Good sniper can easily 1 shot Sharman and T-34. It also has good defensive ability. I forgot how many times did i shoot down Yak and splifire with 13mm turret. This is why i prefer 410 over the duck though i like the duck.

@@joelau2383 eh youre opinion so I won't hammer you for it 😂. But get me wrong I like the Me410s (all of them actually). To me the 13mm defensive guns on the 410 are a bit... lack luster. The 13mm doesn't do a heap of damage, its only saving grace is the angles of it. I know you didnt mention the 110 but the Bf110G-2 dual 7.92 is more effective in terms of damage, but of course less angles so between the two its close. Im also gonna say the 110 is better for when you need to engage a plane but again the 410 has 20mms so you can go either way I guess. Both are good options at the end of the day I am also well aware of the damage out put of the 50mm, it can be very very handy. The high velocity 37mm is pretty handy though. But at the end of the day the duck is just a meme plane, it is hard to get full effectiveness with it.

@@liamboyle9199 In my experience, small caliber is pretty useless (except scaring newbie) above 3.0. It never bother me when i face them. BTW, i am experienced bomber hunter. I don't even afraid of BV-238.....probably. 13mm is not as good as Russia 12.7, but good enough to shoot engine and kill pilot from the front. I only played air RB before Lv70. 410 is the first plane I would intentionally bait enemy dogfighter and shoot them down with turret. (Yes, i was late to the 264 devil party.) To be honest, 37mm on 110 is kind of spread and pray like B-2 30mm. Although, it is a lot more agile, but it lack the punch. 50mm is a pure sniper. It won't 1 shot like the duck whenever you penetrate, but it surely would take out critical component around where you shoot. For example, shooting the hull front of Sherman or T-34 with -30 to -40deg angle would reliably cause ammo explosion or crew knock out.

The Duck has a special sight for shooting the 75mm gun, it makes it much easier to aim.

youre turning to early to reengage and shooting in 3rd person. use the scope, its so much easier, ive gotten a sherman 10.3km away with the duck. and dont rush it, set up your approach, the duck is a brick, you have to fly it different than other planes.

How do you find the range? I set the range to 400. When target height is as long as the little vertical bar at the side of pilot scope it is nearly 400 away.

@@joelau2383 i watched the replay with the markers turned on. when i fired the shot that hit him, thats what the distance read under his name. he was driving horizontal to my flight path, probably close to his top speed. fired 2 shots before firing the one that hit him, its honestly luck and educated guesses at that distance. the flight time of the round in the air was roughly 10 seconds. i wish i had a good enough computer to record replays, but that was months ago.

Similar to this you should try the BT-7 (F-32) with the 3 IL-2 (premium IL-2M and regular + 3.0 IL-2 armed with 23mm). Incredible lineup.

im so happy that youre using apcr against kv1's. there are so many people who are like "so this is the puma and it cant kill kv1's". it is so annoying that they dont know how effective it is against them

I never use APCR in puma. The damage effect is simply not worth to take a shot. I rather spot, shoot barrel APBC and run away if I face KV1.

Hey OddBawz, try using the scope in the cockpit of the duck, it helps with aiming and especially with longer range sights. Just zoom in when in cockpit view.

If you MEC this plane you can wep it infinetely basically without overheating. just open up radiators and raise prop pitch to around 75% and you'll get better performance as well

Hey Odd, you want a challenge? Go play the JU-87 with the two 37mm or the PBJ-1H, but go into 7.0+ BR matchmaking. Try to get an ace with either of these.

I find running this thing at 5.7 is much easier than 3.3, just because there's no KV1s with their weird af armour and 5 crew. Killing IS1&2 and T34-85s are way easier with it.

'Need to be aiming higher the close I am'. ...ooooor you could try aiming in virtual cockpit. At that point you actually just need to aim, in stead of thinking about the shell not lining up with your crosshairs. I know it takes some getting used to, but try it out ^^,. You can hit tanks from well over 1 kilometer consistently while doing that, even giving you time to get a second shot off on the same run when done right

Highly recommend you use the in cockpit sight Hit f2 then zoom it really helps to aim longest shot i hit with it was 2.5km

I've managed a 9 kill streak with it one time... I was sweating sauerkraut the whole way. Mostly because I managed to hit 2 fighters with a single high velocity schnitzel... and the enemy were all blind potatoes.

I wish you'd get markings on your tank if you got an ace in them. Kind of like how world of tanks does it if you perform better in a tank than a certain % of players and you get the mastery markings. Because lets be real, whats hotter than kill markings on your barrel?
