His Fiona, that was just what I needed. You unwittingly shone a bright light right into my soul. We all need a rope sometimes. A guide to ease our fear. My rope will be those I love, those who are beside you when you need them. You see sweet lady, I lost my mum on Monday after a long and very painful battle with lung cancer. For the last two and a half years I have been in before and after work, caring as best I could for her. No not alone, I had some amazing help from two wonderful people. They were my rope then, supporting me. Those I love will remain, something to hold on to when I'm struggling. I'm going to need that rope for a while I think. This video, and you, we're so uplifting. Thank you. Stay safe kid. X

Oh William, I am so saddened to hear this. It’s one thing to lose a loved one, and another to watch their slow decline. I really feel for you. It is heartening to hear that you have some wonderful people around you to offer support. It’s at times like these that we are humbled by the love and kindness that so many people are willing to offer. I’m glad you’re not alone. It is also warming to hear that my video has lifted you in some small way. I’ll be thinking of you. Take care x

@@FarForFiona Thank you Fiona. That was really rather touching. People are so bloody awesome don't you think? We all face trauma, tragedy, despair at various times in life, but there is always a light to show us the way. Some roads are longer than others. I don't know why, but I would like to share a poem with you that I wrote for my son many years ago after learning he had suffered a similar experience to me, long,long story. I just thought you might appreciate it. It's really a message of hope and the belief that pain eases, things get better and hearts heal. It's called To Hell and Back. We know where hell is, you and I, Where loves winged angels swiftly flee, And with tear stained faces, burning, cry! Where is thy hallowed sanctuary? We know what pain is, you and I, Broken trust and shattered dreams. When, "To Hell, Be Damned," our foe imply, Say, "Too Late, you see we've been." I have found peace though, by and by, This inner sanctum's crystal dome. So when demons beckon you to fly, Take my hand..... I'll guide you home. P.s. Not hitting on you, honest 😂. You are a very sensitive girl, sweet and thoughtful, and if I had been a few, OK, quite a few years younger, you'd have had a stalker 😂😂. (Old army trait, even in the hardest of times, never lose your humour.) Take care. X

@@williamwest8324 what a talent you are! Beautiful poem, thank you for sharing. Do you still write? Not everyone has the ability to keep hope when they are struggling through tough times so it is good to be reminded that there will be better times ahead. You are very much like me in that sense, always maintaining that no matter what life throws at me, I will come through it stronger. You are an inspiration! Take care
@williamwest83243 жыл бұрын
You are too kind kid. Yes I still write, although I was never prolific. I write when I am emotionally awakened. Sometimes happy, sometimes sad, or even a combination of both. I find putting words down in front of me helps me understand the emotions more clearly. I am a bit of a sod for not so much writing poetry, more writing philosophical and heartfelt letters on special occasions. Either for friends, family or even to show my own emotions. I usually get people emotional when I do and get a “you had to make us bloody cry again didn’t you?” Fraud so 😂😂😂
@FarForFiona3 жыл бұрын
@@williamwest8324 I know exactly where you’re coming from. I also write to get my emotions out. It used to be songs for me but now I just get everything down in a journal. It is so very cathartic and a great way to figure out what’s going on inside, especially during tough emotional times. Take care x

Thanks Fiona. Another great video from a great mountain. I love your can-do attitude. I have done the Buachaille in winter, but definitely up the tourist path. You look a much more natural climber than I am, but the Curved Ridge does look a very enticing route for an enthusiastic scrambler. Maybe you could consider trying some Italian via ferrata routes when you have time. I am sure you would enjoy them (and Cortina).
@FarForFiona2 жыл бұрын
Ah you’re not the first person to suggest via ferrata! It looks amazing and is now on my hit list of things to do! The curved ridge was incredible. Yes there is a lot of exposure but the climbing itself was relatively easy - for me at least - I’ve heard others experiences that differ. I guess it’s a confidence thing too!

Hi again Fiona. Amazing Amazing Amazing. You should be so proud of yourself. Anyway another great video thanks for a the all the effort it takes to produce and upload for us. look forward to the next one.

Wow, Angels Landing look INCREDIBLE. I think I may have just added it to my bucket list! There is quite a drop either side so I’m not surprised you didn’t make it if you have a fear of heights but you are right, it is the fact that you were willing to face that fear that is important. That’s quite a spot you choose to do that! Well done! 😃

Haha that’s the beauty of The Curved Ridge….it’s one way! You walk down a different path that hikers use to hike up the same hill. The only part of it that you climb back down is The Crowberry Tower and it’s a very short descent before making your way up to the main summit. It really was quite spectacular and my favourite adventure so far! 😁
