Always Helpful to bag & tag All bolts, even separating locations for ‘longer’ & ‘shorter’. Makes reassembly infinitely easier. While you’re waiting for parts, paint to dry, etc take one bag at a time to soak, clean, chase threads, refinish/detail. Keep the Projects coming ! 👍🏼

Great seeing you and grandpa working together. I don’t really work with anyone on the same bike. I find that frustrating at best. There are certain tasks where it certainly helps.

I have an 86 xr200, would i be better off going to a 95 250 swingarm? What fork upgrade is there?

Good question honestly I had an 86 200 and I like the suspension on it if it needs rebuilt just rebuild the suspension and I think you’ll be happy with what you have. That being said if you wanted to upgrade to bigger equipment, you could go with a 86 to 89 XR 250 swing arm which would be bolt on and I would recommend that and you could use the front forks off of the 86 through 89 XR 250 which is also a bolt on.

Hey guys this is a good project and I am busy with an XR200 as well, we are also upgrading the suspension etc. I got suspension of a 2001 CR250R and it fits up almost perfectly with the exception of the rear brake slider that had to be modified. I would replace the front suspension while you are at it. But work with what you have. :)

Remind us which year 200? Where did the the rear brake master cylinder frame mount come from? Was that borrowed from the donor 95? (Never-mind this. Your video covered it near the end)

What brand paint do you use for the frame ?

We use rust oleum primer after sand blast to bare metal. Then ultra white two coats

Still seems a 96’ and not a 95’ donor. 96’ was a major design change remaining through 04’. We used a 95’ as a donor for our 87’ 250 suspension and rear disc conversion. Colors, stickers, and parts all resemble the 95’ model. 😉
