We are going to take the first step in saving this old dirt bike. We will be rebuilding the forks on this 1995 Honda XR250R. Come along with me and we'll eventually get this in tip top shape.

That is a Park Tool vise and actually made for holding bicycles. Works great. Thanks for watching.

The factory service manual offers a different sequence when installing the front wheel. After the wheel is in place, here's what Honda says: 1) Clean front axle and holder, 2) Install the holder with the arrow facing upwards, 3) Install the axle holder nuts but DO NOT tighten at this time, 4) Align the speedometer gearbox with the tang on the right fork leg, 5) Tighten the axle to the specified torque, 6) With the front brake applied, pump the front forks up and down several times to seat the axle and check front brake operation, 7) Tighten the axle holder nuts: upper nuts FIRST, then the lower nuts. Torque to specs. What's missing from this video are the last two points...cycle the forks to seat the axle BEFORE tightening the four axle holder nuts...AND when you do tighten these nuts, there is a sequence. Hope this helps.
