This is the real deal... Nowadays so called "mechanics" only change parts. Which is something anyone with the right tools and access to the internet can do... Proper troubleshooting takes skill, knowledge. Not everyone has those. Good job

This isnt a mechanics job, though, mechanics job is to change mechanical parts, not to deal with electrical faults, thats why auto electricians exist.

If they slam in an ABS Pump , what dumb story do they give the customer when it doesn't work ? Is it ECM time ? Anyone can plug in a cheap code reader and get codes . It takes training and skill to diagnose it like you did . That's how it's done . 👍

Great diagnosis. Basics first. Now the hard part... no connectors shown in the diagram to help isolate the circuit problem. Good luck.

This was a job from about a year ago, I simply followed harness across the bulkhead (firewall) and split it open in middle to determine which half had the break. Then kept halving that side.

They didn't write off the pump. They found the correct fix but tried to pull a scam by charging the customer for a new pump instead of the brake switch.

I had ABS sensor issue. Gave mechanic new sensor. He didnt fit it..said he just cleaned it and got success with connection. No idea why the fault code didnt clear. Also had ECU light no speedo..etc. he sent me a photo of corrosion to several pins. Told me i needed new ECU. Said Cleaning ECU connector was not a job they did..charged me ,£1000.08 quid..😅😅😅 Great being a technical geek girl. I spoke to so many itger people..by the time id sent my own discoveries, tht £1000.08 quid bill was reduced to NIL. Ive got to oick it bck up tomorrow with tge same warning lights i went in for..cannot stop being pissed off. This is the fourth garage tht has given me BS 😮 😢

So I have a 2012 Acura TL. It keeps getting air in the lines anytime the traction control activates. I think I can put new o-rings inside the abs where the hydraulic portion slides into the electronic portion. Do you think that will work? I've heard that some of the o-rings are damaged from the factory and air in the lines from the abs is a common problem.

I’ve been a mechanic now for 46 years and counting and I would be the first to admit I’m not a diagnostic technician but what I do I do very well there’s many garages out there and I’ve worked for some they invest in a high end diagnostic Scanner but don’t and won’t invest in training don’t subscribe to any technical information platforms and basically are just winging it most of the time that’s not to say there are some very good independent garages out there There certainly are
@intelligentauto7373 жыл бұрын
This is the problem in the trade, the diagnostic scan tool, it’s a dangerous piece of kit and unfortunately getting more affordable. This one piece of kit gives the mechanic a false sense of security when diagnosing faults. What I’m trying to highlight in these videos is that scan data alone cannot conclusively diagnose a fault. Further testing and an understanding of the system is needed to pin point a problem. I myself know and appreciate my own limitations, I’m sure there’s guys out there that can perform certain tasks on a motor vehicle far more proficiency than me. If we all stick to what we’re good at then the consumer will have a far better view of the trade we work in. We (mechanics/technicians) are wholly to blame for the bad name the trade has in my opinion.

I have Focus RS Mk2. I have 2 sensors reporting a problem, 2 ok. Driver front, passenger rear, showing 9v at the plug. The other 2 showing 11.9v. any ideas? Pushed 12v down one the the wires from ABS pump socket and tested at the sensor plug, 12v. So pump outputting 9v.

Not without seeing the vehicle
@cliffharker2600 Жыл бұрын
@@intelligentauto737 it's been seen by 3 people already and this is the furthest we have got. The conclusion is the ABS module needs sending away because if it's getting 12v in and sending 12v to 2 sensors and 9v to the others it's something internal. Unless it's fed by 2 different supplies that would seem to be the case. Are any fed by independent supplies? The 2 at 9v have zero output on live monitoring.
