Reminds me a bit of "mo: astray" not a metroidvania but a level based game where you are a blob. It got a pixelated artstyle with some very good animations. It also has some similar mechanics, like controlling enemies

@@dogebuttermilk4221 Gorgeous visuals, ridiculously good boss fights, great music. Difficulty levels affect puzzles and platforming challenges, not just enemy damage and density like most games. I dunno, man. You google "Hidden gem games" and you get shit like Wizard of Legend, a game that has 15,000 user reviews on Steam, or fucking Celeste. Great games, but they ain't "hidden". Mo: Astray is a true hidden gem. And it REALLY shouldn't be.

i looked up on youtube if there is an actual true ending, and the only thing ive found is one playthough in japanese which does have a full on different ending and more content to the game, so i wonder and hope if you'll try to see what it is, since it is a very pretty game

Sorry to revive a month-old comment, but I just finished the game myself. To get the true ending, you have to talk to the map guy in the final solar area and collect every hidden log/letter in the game. I think the map guy will only start the quest after defeating Kradyrev for the bad ending (but you can have all the logs/letters already to complete that quest instantly). After that.... SPOILERS You unlock the access to the abyss, using the bird corpse at the very beginning. Finishing that area pretty much just reaffirms the lore learned from reading the logs/letters. Kradyrev and Lucentia used to rule the land together, but Lucentia didn't like Kradyrev's creations. There was a war and Kradyrev was banished, upsetting the natural balance. Then you go fight Kradyrev again and revive Lucentia, but convince them to rule together peacefully.

Everyone was comparing this to Ori and GRIS in terms of aesthetics, but honestly, I was getting massive Journey vibes the whole time. Very reminiscent art directions there imo (particularly in the environments and backgrounds).
