Chicory: A Masterpiece

My playthrough of Chicory: A Colorful Tale. This was a game I saw and thought looked pretty cute, but it ended up becoming one of the most touching games I've played, and my definite game of the year 2021. I would recommend playing it yourself before watching too much!

Weird how the same music artist makes the game someone's favourite thing. So. The way that sequence works is that Turnip checks for paint leading from them to the door, probably every time the brush stops being used. So, if there's already paint there, ya gotta add something before Turnip actually checks for a path

Both this and Wandersong are perfect examples of a cheery game with wholesome qualities that slowly start showing that the main character has feelings of self-doubt, worthlessness and not being able to understand anything.

1:06:05 Man I never expect this conversation to hit home. The whole conversation just caught me off-guard with its sincerity and honesty. We've all been there, fixating on something so such so that we ignored all the rest of the world, I know I definitely did. Hopefully, there are pieces like this game (or the pixar movie 'Soul' imo ) to remind us that the meaning of life lies within every fleeting moment of it. I originally followed this channel purely for the Hollow Knight content, but this video came just at the right time for me as I'm working through many of the same themes that Chicory addresses in my personal and professional life. I think that's the beauty of it, in a way - that just as the experiences of despair, impostor syndrome, and depression are intrinsically human, so is our ability to help one another through them, and surpass them on our own merits. This game is a masterpiece Chicory actually seems to portray depression very well And pizza looking up to chicory the whole time is amazing, not feeling as good as her the entire time. This game is actually one of the best I’ve seen in a long time. The story is so deep for a game about painting and it’s insane how in depth it goes EDIT: Wow. The ending of them both achieving the impossible and creating new brushes, while simultaneously facing their fears and creating new opportunities is just. Wow. This game is absolute perfection. End of story

Those paintings at the start were totally a Cucumber Quest reference!! Almond, Carrot, and Parfait are all main characters, it's fun to see a cool game like this squeeze in a webcomic reference like that so soon in the game.

during the fight against the real chicory you can really feel her agony. its a real feat to be able to portray so much emotion into a boss fight. also the animations of that fight looks so sick! love it!
