Fun fact from a former Rituals employee: The Ritual of Amsterdam was inspired by the first business connections between Asia and Europe in the 18th century. Porcelain was one of the main import goods so they chose a white and blue vase for inspiration, which can be seen in the Rijks Museum in Amsterdam. The blue designs on the packaging are actual little paintings from this old vase. And the scent (Yuzu and Tulips) is meant to represent Asia and Europe as well.

The candles are meant to be like the candles in an actual Advent wreath used primarily by Catholics but other Christian churches use them as well. It’s supposed to be 3 purple candles and one pink, each lit on the four Sundays before Christmas with a different meaning. The pink is always lit on the third Sunday. I like interpretation they took, it’s interesting and they actually added something from the Advent season. Love your unboxings!

i was just coming to post this! i don't blame Alexandria at all for not knowing this - as a fellow southern gal, all of my high church tendencies were not at all learned from the southern baptists. instead my family picked that up from the anglicans from when my dad went to college over in england lol! compared to southern baptists or even things like primitive baptists, an actual advent wreath is virtually unheard of around here. it's just too high church, plus there's a lot of connection to saint's days, and of course your typical southern small town church ain't gonna like that. despite being christian myself, i don't really think these advent calendars need to be so christianey. it's about beauty products after all. but scented candles on every sunday? that is a beautiful way to recognize that tradition and find a way to reference it, while making sure everybody enjoys it! it's almost like a little easter egg in a movie where if you don't get it, you'll enjoy the movie perfectly, but if you *do* get it, it makes you smile.

As a fellow miniature obsessive, this is definitely my fave calendar you've opened so far. My husband is so thankful you do these unboxings so I can live vicariously and not drag us into credit debt by buying them myself. I'm glad Macy's stepped up their game this year because a coupon on the 24th day is just...no. You're supposed to tape down the lights following the diagram on that white insert and then flip it over so the lights shine up though the houses :) Then you can put all the houses back after you open them and keep the adorable little village displayed! This is my favorite of the calendars so far! :)

Love this series 💕 I have this just EU version so not watching the whole video till the 24th, so happy to see the excitement tho ,makes me more excited😍Just wanting to comment that the lights are ment to be underneath, so that the houses light up as you empty them out, so by 24th you have a village of houses. The cardboard has circles on where the farirylights are ment to attach and than you flip it and put the houses on top ❤️ it's even more well thought out 😍

In the Catholic tradition (from which Advent comes), a different candle is lit for the four Sundays leading up to Christmas. Advent actually starts at the end of November each year, but the calendars usually stick to a Christmas countdown during December and just borrow the name Advent.

Lily of the Valley is my absolute favorite flower!! We have a bunch growing in my back yard and every year around Mothers Day my mom and my grandmother and I would go down and pick full bouquets worth. So now every time I find anything that smells like it I get so happy and nostalgic🥰 This is hands down the best calendar thus far! I mean, look at those lights! AND THE BABY TREES!!!! They win. This is the only calendar I purchased and I absolutely loved it! In fact, it's still on my master bedroom dresser because I can't bring myself to get rid of it. I believe the four candles are inspired by the catholic tradition of lighting four candels during the four Sundays before Christmas to symbolise the wait. Each Sunday/candle has a different meaning: hope, peace, joy, and love. :)

FYI items with rose are used do to the natural anti aging properties, especially helpful in brightening the skin ie: age/sun spots. Rose is often used in hand creams to fade sun spots as well as many facial skin care products as it truly is a skin brighter. 😉

The 4 candles on each Sunday is a nod to the Advent Wreath used in many Liturgical Churches like the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod. I used to sell Gold Canyon Candles. So sad they're gone.

You get a candle to burn each Sunday because that's what they do in churches for advent! The candles are different colors for different Sundays (I don't remember what colors go to which Sunday, I'm a reformed catholic now). Like most meaningful religious holiday symbols this one also has Pagan roots.

Oh my! This advent calender is so amazing, it is so cute! I can see myself reusing this packaging as a decoration, Rituals game is strong, every year it keeps getting better and better. The price value and contente of the calender is really good, but the fact that the products are a good size (and not samples, hate thoses things, I really do!), is amazing, you really get to try the products enough time to see if you really like them. I have to say the worst calendars so far are the Macys and QVC, but your reactions to them are to die for, sorry but I just can't stop laughing. I'd love to be entered in the giveaway.

Coffee beans are a great palette cleanser for smells!! If you keep a little glass jar of beans next to your set up, just give em a sniff and it should help you smell more fragrances back to back. :)

My favourite so far has either been this one or the Benefit one (even though they were all mini samples). My least favourite (if I had to chose) would have to be Macy’s haha. This has to be my favorite advent calendar so far this year! Honestly I feel like this one was actually worth the price and had a nice variety of products included as well. I love the inclusion of the candles as I love candles and have a massive collection of them. I also love this packaging because it is so adorable and could literally be reused as a display piece which is amazing and super fun plus unique as its the first time I have seen anything like this in an advent calendar. Worst has to be either QVC or Macy's I mean the single vitamin really or the last day is a coupon I don't know which is worse there both pretty bad. I'd love to be entered into the giveaway.

I think the donut on the bottle is so you can have the diffuser sticks leaning out of it. Like a stand. Also, this calendar is amazing and amazingly cute. If you had to accidentally order a second one of a calendar, this was a pretty good one for it imo.

I’m so loving the advent calendar challenge. And I’m always pleasantly surprised to log on and a new video is up. Also the qvc with the single vitamin was terrible. This one was the best yet with all the large samples and candles. Watching you be happy and not having your footage deleted was the best.

This calendar has been my favorite of the ones you unboxed so far. The packaging is so cute! And it seems like this one actually has value! I'd love to be entered in the giveaway for this calendar. My least favorite one so far has been the trio of Ulta ones just because I expected sooo much better. In previous years they seemed to be the gold standard of cheaper advent calendar but this year was some Sephora-quality items for sure.

Editing to add that Ayurveda is pronounced Eye-Your-VAY-Duh and it’s an ancient non-western holistic healing practice from the Indian subcontinent. The worst calendar by far this year has been the QVC tragedy - I was not expecting Sephora to lose their spot as the most awful calendar hahaha

The light were actually supposed tu be on the bottom on the white cardboard that's why there are drawings on the bottom so the houses light up through the windows and doors, it's really adorable

hey just a little back! if you get coffee grounds and smell them after every strong smell it will help clear your nose out. Like give you a fresh palette to smell the next thing!

You should get a jar of coffee beans, like they have at candle stores to refresh your smelling abilities. Or cedar chips, if you dislike the smell of coffee, as I do.

How gorgeous, especially if you are giving this as a gift!! I gave my son and daughter a designer calendar this year as they are older and it’s part of their overall gift budget but this is just so gorgeous to have out at advent!!
