I think for me I stopped questioning how many friends I have and just started focusing on what kind of friend I am ..like am I kind , supportive , loyal and dependable? ..mostly you just attract what you are ;also instead of expecting so much from people look at what value they add to you and appreciate that eg who is good to go out with ? Who gives best advice ? Best company ? Biggest supporter ?

I agree Beatrice not all friends have to fit one coat.Learn their value,their strength and live with them as such And appreciate them for that.Like i have friends who we not necessarily hang out with but when it comes to praying and interceding are warriors and hold me down seriously and i them.It's not a one size fits all.I have learnt to make this differentiation as i have grown older.

Having uncomfortable talks with your friends is key.... Without them you might be living a fasad and you don't know it.... When you cross a boundary or when they cross and you don't speak about it...its a ticking time bomb and when it explodes the toxicity level will be high.... Having the uncomfortable conversation leads to growth and better friendships
@BenCyco4 жыл бұрын
I agree 💯

I agree.At the beginning of the year we challenged ourselves with my close friends to having more honest conversations.The fakeness and facade in friendships is honestly due to avoiding the uncomfortable talks.There is beauty beyond honesty in friendships.

To anyone reading this it might not be as necessary to you but id recommend a series called A MILLION LITTLE THINGS so basically the series is based on a story about a guy from a close circle of four men who committed suicide despite his life seeming perfect you know(perfect dad, husband, friend) and he still went ahead to take his life.so In short the series is trying to teach its audience that friendship is about so many little things that we brush off easily and as ben said that most of our friends that take their life might always be smiling and present and surrounded by us but we do not notice the little things that are eating them up id really like to commend you guys for choosing to speak on this topic its a really crucial one

Yesterday that lone rangers' connection to suicide crossed my mind, but forgot to look it up until Ben mentioned. I agree with him; most people who seem to have many friends don't actually have a self identity & that's why sadly it's easy for them to give it up when life takes some bad unexpected turns. On the other hand, the loners with their small inner circles tend to be more self aware and sorta know how to deal with different challenges in life. Neither has it all figured out, but clearly, Quality over quantity.

Meaningful conversation! I actually went to primary school with Nyawira. That is besides the point - My female friend was surprised the other day when i told her, I won’t be this close to you once i get into relationship/marriage. Having the opposite sex as a close friend after you get into relationships is a recipe for a disaster! You can love them from distance.

24:10 Comparison is such a disease to progress, especially trading your attention onto life paths that aren't yours and unconsciously fighting against your own purpose. I mean just looking left and right in comparison can wreck your neck and throw you into kizunguzungu. My inner circle keeps shrinking but highly attaining in the overall value and it's such a painful experience to be mature enough to understand when it's the right time to drop a relationship; so true, we constantly need to evaluate relationships with unwavering feedback. Thank you guys for this episode; you guys are so cool!

I group my friends in 3 parts 1. confidants These ones are your ride or die friends, they love you for who you are. very very close friends 2.constituency These people are for what you are for, your dreams, your vision, your direction in life. 3.comrades These ones have common facts with you. It's a specific thing that brings you together and if that thing is not present you are not friends at all, eg people you party with, after the drinks and fun, that's it.

A close friend or fam borrows cash, doesn't return, what happens to the friendship? I have two layers, inner and everyone else (those that I know and strangers). The two layers are pretty much the same except that inner is intimate. Else I'm all about exchanging knowledge, sharing cool experiences, helping each other etc... Cutting across all layers. You have no idea how new people can enrich your life, you also don't know how you could be a blessing to others - I have experienced both. Being too closed doesn't seem like my thing. You like traveling? Visiting new countries and such? New people that you meet are like new countries.

Cyco, your first few podcast episodes were PODCASTS, if you know what I mean. The voice was clear and concise, no much interruptions from one person talking to another, and you know, there was clear focus on delivering the message. I could put the podcast in the background while doing some stuff in the house and still get the message. But the recent videos, are they sit downs? Vlogs? Chitchats? I don’t know. The sound quality? Sometimes filmed outside with background muggy noise, Interruptions from one talker to another, I feel like I have to be present watching the video the whole time for one hour otherwise I lose track of who is speak and when and why they interrupted, Why everyone is laughing and what is going on. Maybe I’d say that is for a normal video and not a podcast? I listen to so many PODCASTS, I guess when podcast involves 3 or more people, it really requires alot of coordination. Maybe I mistook the name of the channel and thought it is a podcast channel. The collabos are nice, but Just wondering if you will be doing any podcasts in the future and I mean like, you know podcasts podcasts. No pressure just a curious subscriber who subscribed for you know, podcasts and not chitchats....

When you walk with Jesus you will never be alone I failed in many friendships and I was failed to because I expected them to understand where I was in life but then it wasn’t in there capability. I am now relearning to be a friend and understanding where my boundaries are but above all I chose me and it’s okay because if you have Jesus you have one lasting friend who can fill a void no human being can. Thank you Nyawira for your honesty and the knot concept! This is the first vid where @wanjirunjiru...was not able to be truthful..or chose not to. To herself and to us, and its okay, it is allowed. The reason why she is able to face conflicts with ben is because she is real with him. A healthy relationship/friendship addresses conflict. It also helps to be honest with yourself. Conflict is not a bad thing, its part of relationship/friendship growth.
