Don’t watch it on Disney+ though, every episode is available on yt for free rn, most are spliced a bit but they’re fine, it has a bi main character, with a lesbian love interest, there’s a nonbinary bard in there somewhere for like one episode ( won’t say why only one episode, it ain’t transphobia, it’s plot, sadly. ) Also *gestures to the plot & lore* very fun to look into its very deep

My moms boyfriend has a coworker who is a transwoman. He can't get it into his head. We talked about her yesterday and I was the only one using female pronouns. "He wanted to be a woman." "But he still looks dumb so much like a man, that style doesn't fit him at all." "No matter what you do, you just can't change the way you walk or the sound of your voice." And it just made me so incredibly mad, because first of all it's *HER* choice and she was a woman all along and *SHE* is not doing that to look good in your eyes. *SHE* also looks very feminine, I don't know what your problem is, and you can totally change the way you walk, just because you can't pull yourself together and stop sounding (and looking) like your dying whenever you have to move. And of course voices change, is this your fist day on earth? I don't wonder why *SHE* quit *HER* job and is now working somewhere else. The worst things here are that he is actually a very nice person, but ignorant and has the mental capacity of a 3 year old. And that one day (probably quite soon because I'm falling apart trying to hide it) he will learn that I am a lesbian, and I will have to explain all over again that being gay and being trans is *not* the same thing and that I am still a girl and the fear of his reaction is what keeps me in the closet, despite the fact that my mental health gets worse everyday and I break down crying out of nowhere about 4 times a week. Thank you for listening to my rant, I just can't do that anymore. Pretending I'm a straight girl, not screaming at him, not screaming at other people either and not falling back into my suicidal thoughts. It's hard and I'm tired and I can't even tell my mom why.

I just wanna say, I was raised for quiet awhile not knowing ANYTHING about the LGBTQ+. I only learned more, and more about it starting at the age of 10. I'm 12- and I've learned QUITE a lot. And I'm still learning new things like my bisexuality! Including my parents. Here's an embarrassing story: I would make two of my girl barbies kiss eachother and I thought that if my parents caught me doing that with the barbies I would be in trouble. This is why we should teach our kids at younger ages that being unique or liking different things, or identifying differently than most people is okay! You don't have to "fit in". I still have trouble deciding to "fit in" or "stand out". I'm a bit self-conscious because of my GOSH DARN ANXIETY. So just a quick moral of the story, everyone was raised differently and it depends on them if they want to make a change in their behavior or not because of how they were raised. Don't always judge a person by their past, but by their thoughts and actions in the present. I don't think anyone will actually read this- but uh. Yeah. That's my comment- so uh. The Dawg out?

We do, they're under the same overall organization just a bit more niche. The classic "tan shirt" Scouts are half-mixed, with gender-divided troops. This is fairly recent in ~2019 or so, and is a step in the direction of just being normal eventually. For the fully inter-gender programs I mentioned at the start, there's Venturing, Explorers, and Sea Scouts. They all do slightly different things and are definitely less known in general culture but are there and have been mixed-gender since at least the 90s. Hopefully some day soon the separate gender stuff in Scouts will just go away for good. I know that it'd have been devastating for me to have understood I was transfem when I was a Scout and suddenly technically excluded for stupid culture reasons, and I don't want that on any of my fellow Scouts either. Anways, cheers from a transfem Scout leader!

No one is going to put up with them refusing to use the best modern tools for the job simply because they don’t want to learn how to use a computer, because by then the same capitalists who put them in charge decades ago because they were good at this job then will be disappointed to see that these boomers are losing them money now. I know 12 year olds who know how to use Excel and you’re still filing financial reports using a legal pad _Gerald._

Yeah but at least with people in school they might have had a good reason. Some kids could have just been bullied so badly to the point where it put them off learning and made them hate school, and the only reason they even kept going is because their family would get into trouble if they didn't go at all cause its the law.

"If we waited for everyone to catch up, we'd never make any progress because there are some people who just don't wanna move." WORDS. OF. WISDOM!!!! Ugh, and the rest is great too: "And as frustrating as that may be for them, because the world is moving on without them, all they need to do is try. And trying? Not that big of a deal. But it can make the world of difference." In a recent video (forgive me for not knowing the title, the vlogbrothers post twice a week lol and I interact with a lot of their other content), Hank Green spoke about a sociologist study about recycling. I had stopped recycling, because I thought it didn't matter. My recycling a few things a week wasn't going to do anything to fix the problem. But to paraphrase, just the act of recycling made people care more about the environment. It's on your mind more and in a positive way, you are showing that you are trying, and you are making a difference that is small but can be seen by the giants that need to do better. And that's the story of how I started recycling again, lol. The very first step in making the world better is to care for each other. Thank you for building a space where everyone is happy to be doing so

OT giggles make a great soundtrack for my afternoon. When I was in HS back in the 1980's I got so much grief from teachers for using "they/them" instead of "he/him" to refer to a random individual of unknown gender in all my writings, especially the weekly essays we had to turn in. That was the hill I died on for a few years, but I got tired of always being marked down for it, so I stopped referring to random individuals & always chose specific individuals to refer to instead, individuals who always happened to be female... except for one non-binary person named Toast who was an original character of mine & I didn't even know the word non-binary but my thought process was "why does everyone have to be male or female? I'ma have someone different"! I am SOOOOO HAPPY that a chunk of the world has FINALLY caught up with me!!!! Now we can all defend the hill together.

Some people don't want to use singular they, even though it has literally been around for actual centuries (and they've probably been using it themselves, they just didn't notice). The people claiming it's new and difficult are wrong, but even if singular they had been invented yesterday like neopronouns, you can still be polite and kind to people and call them whatever they like to be called. It's like calling someone "buttface" instead of their name all the time. It's rude and mean, and people who do that are bullies.

To add to your analogy at the end, for people pre transition it’s a reminder of how others perceive them despite all of their efforts. I’m a trans guy but since I go to a catholic school and have an unsupportive family I can’t do anything. My friends are supportive (thankfully) but every time I’m misgendered I’m like: right.. despite what they say everyone sees me as a girl
@dustinm27173 жыл бұрын
Fun fact: you know what else is technically plural if you wanna be cynical, the word "you", you don't typically say "you is" or "thou is" you say "you are" and nobody cares about that and we all just say "you are" even in the singular without a second thought because it's just how it is in english so unless the transphobes wanna start using "thou" again we can use they in the singular just fine as it's not just not a new thing but there is precedent for it that most of us don't even notice because it's just normal (You become the norm since we lost the 2nd person singular (aka thou) to history because over time "thou" was not just the singular but was also seen as informal and such "you" gradually become the polite term to use even in singular, and eventually "thou" was pushed out of normal use entirely due to its informal connotations, kinda ironic because today thou is seen as old timey and sophisticated and only used when you want something to sound really old)

I cried listening to the message from Collin. It’s just so nice & uplifting, funnily enough comes from my favorite person on Whose Line, he always has been my favorite. I started watching the show when I was around 7 or 8 years old since my parents were into it & then it disappeared for a while but then returned when I was in middle school, it was playing on ABC Family on Monday nights & I NEVER missed a Whose Line marathon Monday nights. It was one of the things I looked forward to most every week, well that & the new episodes of Danny Phantom on Friday nights on Nick. I was super obsessed with Whose Line during that time & I appreciated how Collin could remain composure & roll with things, best example I can give on that is the Called Out the Wrong Name in Bed Irish Drinking Song. I will not spoil it but that is a very good one to give example towards Collin’s greatness. I like him so much that I got to see him perform live when he went on tour, I got a seat close to the front, was awesome. I remember I got to write down one of the lines for the game where they pick up a random line mid sentence. Mine was “don’t swim with sharks” & that caused the scene to turn into a sharknado, was awesome. Hearing someone that I’ve admired for YEARS say something many people needs to hear just was too much. I have to listen to it again, so so much I do appreciate how supportive he is.
