Daewoos were actually South Korean. The brand got bought by GM in 2004 and Daewoos were rebadged as Chevrolets. Apart from that, a couple of their models were renamed too. The Tacuma became the Rezzo, the 3rd-gen Nubira became the Lacetti sedan (a.k.a. the Top Gear car) and the Kalos became the Aveo. With the exceptions of the larger models (being the Daewoo Leganza/Evanda and the Chevrolet Epica/Captiva plus the Musso and Korando, when they had the Daewoo badge instead of the Ssangyong one), all Daewoos were very popular in eastern Europe. I still see many Matiz, Lanos, Nubira and Lacetti cars here in Greece. They're cheap, roomy, economical, reliable and decently made too. In a few words, just what you need for everyday commutes. 😉

Another fun facts: • Matiz was later renamed to Spark by GM. • Daewoo's cars were not only produced by GM, other manufacturers picked up their projects too. • Daewoo's cars are still manufactured by other car companies. Matiz had some modifications, depedning on the region/brand
