Regarding the gold rate, the actual reason is that this year the government has to pay back the SGB bond holders for sovereign gold bonds which were issued in 2016 or 17. So. The government reduced the gold rate so that it can pay less to bond holders. Just sucking every last drop from investors/ public seems to be the motto. I wish you were bold enough to mention this reason

How can you think like that ? Govt has sold SGB every year since that. Infact in more amount than the previous years. By your logic govt would reduce the Tax on Gold further ?? Would it ?

​@@gunjanbelwanshi SGBs were first introduced at the end of 2015. The first bulk of SGBs are maturing this year (meaning till now only interest was paid to bond holders). So, reduction in gold price means govt can pay less on the bond when they mature.

@@MythriVarma that may be the side effects, but not the actual reason. Substantial increase in Tax 2 years ago had to be decreased & that higher tax had lead to higher illegal traffic of gold, which also had to be controlled. Those are the primary reasons.
