This whole vibe is really uneasy. You can tell he’s trying to be as “likable” as possible while simultaneously trying to pass off a victimhood narrative (very trendy, dan...at least he got THAT part right). It also feels like he “booked” this as self-promotion opportunity. It’s very much like watching a DC villain...Batman looks on from his ipad while Dan Nainan tries to convince Gotham that HE’S the good guy. Alfred walks over...”they’ll neva believe ‘im....ee’s too transparent for ‘is own good...”

I hope he gets the help he needs. It's easier for people to dismiss him and make fun of him and wish him ill, but I don't think they truly understand what it's like to be him. I don't think it was a run of the mill bullying for him. Because he was or looked different it left a bigger mark on him. Then he tried to make his pain of being mixed race in to an asset by using it as a gimmick in his stand up, thinking it would empower him. But it was still focusing on his race; the thing he was bullied for (or thought he was bullied for). He felt completely isolated and inferior and when comedians don't accept him it brings back those feelings of being shut out and dismissed and bullied for him. But now he feels he can use aggression (emails, shoving, copyright strikes) to get revenge for the childhood he endured. And people feeling victimized by him are just getting a taste of what he's felt all his life. It's a complex issue and I think very few understand it. He has similarities to Rupert Pupkin and David Brent but there's more going on. He just needs to stop caring about what other people say and let go of the past. He got in to comedy for the wrong reasons I think. Maybe it was popularity and clout. But it came from the position of inferiority not a passion for comedy (which is about pushing boundaries) and you know what? Some comedians use sex and drugs as crutches just like he does with race. But he needs to understand comedy before feeling bad about not fitting in. I don't think he thinks this is his destiny, he just wants to rub it in the faces of those who bully him. Dan, comedians rather live penniless than sell out so don't taunt them with ur money. Anyways... hope he gets help and stops caring about others. Let go of the past Dan... and all will be well.

I believe Dan's intelligence is attacked regularly. His style of comedy doesn't seem to be universal, people who come to looking for laughs cannot understanding how deeply revealing his jokes are. I'm writing this commend while listening to your music playlist. Comedy is a bizarre phenomena as it is. I theorize that laughter is primordially a posture of submission. It is an understanding and an excitement that betrays happiness as readily as it may be received. The best example of a joke I can think of is the King's New Clothes. Nobody is laughing until they realize the nakedness of their subjugator, and if I were to view this as a submission, I would have to see it as a submission to the truth aligning with what they saw, but could not speak because they had been made to believe the clothes would appear invisible to idiots. Submission is harmless when it is common, and social order dictates that we do not submit unless we feel comfortable. Submission met with submission is friendliness. Laughter is usually a good, bright submission. I speculate it is impossible to make a stranger laugh without clearly submitting first. New Order - True Faith =| RIP Ian Curtis...I could believe him to be resurrected in the lead singer (dunno his name) of Fountaines DC...Check them out :) The morning sun is a drug that brings me here to the chapel I lost replaced by fear I used to think the day never come that my life would depend on the morning sun. In this process of making masses of people spontaneously laugh, there must be some ridicule of the obvious. Trump was President. Dan Nainan's lies seem minor and harmless in comparison to Donald's. I take this show as some evidence of his humanity. Dan's emails may be viewed as childish or pathetic, but I guess he has to build himself up if he's going to tear himself down for people's entertainment. Physical violence is unacceptable and he paid the price having been arrested. The act of impersonating others is the most alien of his behaviors, it is a behavior that we the masses do regularly when we watch movies and as children, but seeing Dan Nainan do it as an adult is disturbing. Some essential part of comedy is the fantastic invention of stories to be sold as truth. The easiest way to replicate submission to a non-conversing audience is to tell a tall tale in a ridiculous manner. When we lie as children, it is usually to protect something we feel guilty about. Lying naturally compounds the feeling of guilt, so we might exaggerate things in the hope that we will be caught. "The dog ate my homework" Sure. I think that Dan may have picked up on the tendency of great comedians to tell exaggerated narratives about provocative material and applied it literally to his own life.

I watch comedy specials all of the time. My kids and I have seen just about every stand-up comedian LIVE including the late Bernie Mac, Dave Chappelle, Trevor Noah, DL Hughley, Adele Givens, JessHilarious, etc. but I HAVE NEVER HEARD OF THIS GUY UNTIL JUST NOW! I stumbled across a post about him on ‘Oki’s Weird Stories” - which was an amazing exposé worthy of the original “60 Minutes” series! Did I fall into some comedy "Black Hole" or is this person just a joke? And not a very good or funny one. How much Grecian Formula does he have in his head? Or is that just a dead squirrel dipped in asphalt? Does he buy his weave hair at the same Asian beauty supply store that Trumpelstiltskin gets his orange “carpets"? I know that I’m old and thought, for a brief minute, that I had a stroke this morning and FORGOT everything I’ve ever seen or done in my life! How did I miss this?! OMG! It’s coming on again! Perhaps I am experiencing a set of TIAs (small strokes) cuz I forgot.his.name.just.that.fast......AGAIN! Gotta go & make an appointment to see a neurologist for a brain scan! Either I have been suffering from early onset Alzheimer’s for 20 years or this “comic” is a 🤡! Not a funny one: just a creepy delusional one! 😱

@@vtaycur whatever he is, it's obvious that his reward system is fucked and that he derives his pleasure and high not from making comedy, but by torturing people with his emails and stuff. Dopamine makes people do all kinds of crazy shit. Labeling somebody a psycho won't really help, unlike treating them like an addict and suggesting to examine and modify their behavior. You gotta have pleasure in life, and he has a narrow way to get it. Which is kinda the definition of addiction.

Honestly the dull comedy he does can play well in corporate events which by policy require extremely family friendly content but he has so many other issues, with assaulting people, stalking and false claims that no legitimate corporate event agency would ever hire him. Though I've seen him in pretentious literature events in India where he is there as "foreign guest expert". Maybe he should move to India, he may not get anything done in foreign based companies but there are so many private colleges and local companies who will happily invite him for events as "foreign guest expert"

The only person who was even close in helping was Dr. Ho. The other two seem like they were cornering the guest with comments, "You shoved?" "I'm not connecting," "I feel like I'm intervening with a drug addict who has no clue..." "are you a bully?" Really? Obviously the man acted inappropriately, and it seems like there was more to the story (and it sounded like he was bothered when the journalists were criticized as well), and the host sitting in the middle was not even letting him finish his side of the story. And he wouldn't be on the show to address his issue if he had, "no clue." It seems there is more harm done when "pseudo therapists" try to do the job of trained professionals.

@@thesadattic1065 I think Dan has Narcissistic Personality Disorder, and the only one on this show who seemed to get it was Judy Ho - the actual Therapist, so I kind of agree with the fake account in some ways. NPD is a complex disorder and can be caused by extreme bullying in childhood, which may traumatize some people to the point at which they display symptoms like Dan's. He needs a lot of therapy with somebody who really understands the disorder, and can help heal those childhoods wounds. I'm not trying to excuse or justify his abusive behavior, but I think people need to understand that they are dealing with a mentally ill person here, who will fight with you for no logical reason. He needs help, and that's really all to be said about him.
