About The Daily Show with Jon Stewart:
The Daily Show with Jon Stewart was an Emmy and Peabody Award-winning program that looked at politics, pop culture, sports and entertainment through a sharp, reality-based lens. Stewart and The Best F#@king News Team Ever covered the day's top stories like no one, using footage, field reports and guest interviews to deliver fake news that was even better than the real thing.

For all those wondering what the white stuff on the doughnuts are it is Titanium Dioxide, a nano particle and a class two carcinogen. It is what makes paint white among a myriad of other chemicals and products. Too small for the body to expel from body tissue.

mean teen It is only one of the chemicals in the powder dip. They do not just dip the doughnuts in titanium dioxide. This should not be a shock because you have probably eaten titanium dioxide in your aspirin, put it on your face with suntan lotion and eaten in with frosting on your birthday cake. It is bad for you but like high fructose corn syrup, aspartame and other nasty business good luck getting away from it.

Huh... I miss this. I mean I do like Trevor Noah and I do miss Jon Stewart, but what I really really miss the most is the Daily Show before the election where the main story does not talk about you know who and what he did in you know where, doing whatever the f**k is going to happen. I miss that our main issue was our diet, recycling, North Korea hating on Seth Rogen, it was a simpler time.

+The Treasured Giftshop my history teacher told us that apparently pizza is from America, just based on Italian food and called that, kinda how Panda Express is called Chinese food- technically it's similar, but it's the American version (artificial and more fattening)
@beth12svist
@beth12svist 9 жыл бұрын
I read somewhere that American pizza (i.e. the thing baked in a baking pan) is actually sort of an amalgamate of Italian pizza (round, flat, thin dough but topped in a similar manner) and Sicilian sfincione (thick dough, baked in a deep baking pan but topped differently). It would definitely make sense. ETA: The trouble with the name reminds me of the way "rizoto" in Czech is very different from the Italian risotto (it's even prepared differently), but it's difficult to point out in saying, because it's pronounced the same way and obviously the very general idea (rice + something savoury cooked together) and the name do come from the Italian version!

I think the message should be stop eating so much junk food, not make junk food healthier... I don't care that a big mac is like 1000 calories because it's not supposed to be a common part of your diet.. going out for dinner either to a fancy restaurant where everything has more calories than most people would think or to kfc is supposed to be a once in a while thing. candy and pastries are supposed to be treats, things stop becoming treats when you start having them several times a day.

I don't get the outrage at the junk food companies. What did you expect from Pizza Hut? If you want to eat healthy make your own food. By the way, plenty of fitness people eat junk food. It's nice to binge on some junk food every once and a while, but if you're eating pizza and hamburgers everyday that's on you, not the companies.

Of course people are ultimately responsable for what they choose to eat and stuff, and a huge part of the problem lies in a lack of education, but please don't be naïve, it's been proven now that some of the ingredients these food companies are using are making the consumers addicted in the same way that nicotine in cigarettes does. They are consciously making people eat unhealthy food in an attempt to make them addicted to it, proposing ridiculously cheap products by replacing real ingredients with synthetic chemicals. And that my friend, it's on the junk food companies.

Why would they put antibiotics in food? Wtf have I been eating? this sucks we're dying
@taxiuniversum
@taxiuniversum 9 жыл бұрын
They feed cows, pigs, chicken...antibiotics, because they live under such horrendous and unhealthy living-conditions that they would get sick and die without them. So either the mass-producers could not sell the meat because their animals were sick, or because they had already died. The alternative would be to raise animals under more humane and healthy conditions - but that costs money - money some greedy assholes obviously are unwilling to spend. One big problem in feeding all animals on huge amounts of antibiotics is that this creates multi-drug resistent bacteria. If these get in contact with children or elderly people, they can kill them - and no hospital in the world can help, since not even antibiotics can kill those bacteria. So in other words: The mass-production of meat is breeding a deadly monster.
@the-chillian
@the-chillian 9 жыл бұрын
taxiuniversum Not exactly. They give *sub-therapeutic* amounts of antibiotics to livestock in their because it makes the animals gain weight faster. Since they grow faster, you can get them to market sooner, making them less expensive to raise. It's the fact that the doses are sub-therapeutic that they contribute so much to the evolution of drug-resistant bacteria. They actually evolve resistance more quickly under those conditions.
@amethysttgame
@amethysttgame 9 жыл бұрын
Lytrigian no they give antibiotics to animals who are shoved in dark cages. What happens when animaks are shoved in cages? They get sick. Thats what the antibiotics are for. They pump HORMONES so they grow fatty chests and get bigger quicker. Its about making the most miney from what they got. Enough is never enough for corporations. Even at the risk if their customers health. They don't give a fuck. The only reason they are stopping antibiotics is not for the customers. They are stopping them because they realized they dont work anymore. They have made the viruses evolve to survive with the over production of antibiotics. Thats why you hear so much about this "mysterious" Bird Flu on the news. We know why it suddenly appeared. The media wont give you the whole truth
@the-chillian
@the-chillian 9 жыл бұрын
Teresa a No, I'm afraid you are misinformed. In more than one way than just how antibiotics are used in raising livestock. You don't treat viruses with antibiotics. They don't do anything to them at all. Bird Flu is neither mysterious nor is it particularly virulent, and overuse of antibiotics has nothing at all to do with it. You use antibiotics for *bacterial* infections. The danger in their overuse is that you breed resistant strains of *bacteria*. Not viruses.

While making food healthier is a noble cause the average person does not understand the chemicals that are added to the food. This just reminds me of the idiot "food babe" who pushed Subway to remove azodicarbonamide from their breads. It is true that it is used to make yoga mats, but she was disingenuous and basically implied that Subway was adding bits of yoga mat to bread. In bread it is used as a stabilizer that results in firm bread that does not crack. This dim bulb also once stated, "There is just no acceptable level of any chemical to ingest, ever." For those of us that are actually aware that everything is chemicals; this should give you a headache. As for the donuts, the chemical that makes them brighter is Titanium Dioxide and it is an inactive ingredient. It does not harm you to ingest the chemical in food. It is a class 2B carcinogen like azodicarbonamide or caramel color level IV. Class 2B means that "the agent (mixture) is possibly carcinogenic to humans." There is not enough evidence to claim it is carcinogenic, but there is a possibility that it may be carcinogenic.
@Azurian123
@Azurian123 6 жыл бұрын
The point is that these chemicals do pose the potential to cause oxidative damage via more free radical production than usual. While anyone eating plenty of fruits, vegetables, nuts, and seeds will get an ample supply of antioxidants capable of mitigating said oxidative stress, companies should still not be adding in potentially harmful ingredients just because they are slightly cheaper than the more benign and less controversial ingredients. Titanium dioxide is used in many instances to simply make the color more noticeable, which is quite a silly reason to add a potentially carcinogenic ingredient. I don't care if they claim that it increases their sales by a bit. You should try not to make a habit of defending predatory Capitalism. Would you also justify the absurd amount of salt and oil they add to many of these foods? What about using a more controversial sweetener instead of just using cane sugar (which actually has antioxidant content). I somewhat understand your point, as people make it sound as if the human body has no defense system against any type of slight damage that may occur from an ingredient or two, but that isn't entirely the point. Companies should opt for the less potentially harmful and, in many instances, more beneficial ingredients.

It's not any restaurant's responsibility to force you to eat healthy. Within reason, no individual food is 'healthy' or 'unhealthy'. It's all about your overall diet and lifestyle. As long as you're not eating more calories than you burn in the long term, an occasional indulgence is not going to kill you. Little Caesar's is fucking disgusting, but a proper brick oven pizza is just as calorically rich, but it's fine once in a while. Stop expecting other people to make the right health decisions for you. If they deliberately misrepresent something they serve then they're absolutely in the wrong, but beyond that their only obligation is to turn a profit whilst obeying all relevant laws for their sort of business.

Adam G natural chemicals are better, they are substances produced by nature e.g plants, your body can process them in general to simpler components or use them as a whole they are in general non harmful, artificial stuff are produced in labs, they could be synthesized from natural substances but with a lot of changes (in this case called semi-synthetics) or directly made from non natural chemicals (a lot of times they use petrochemicals as basic building bulks), they are in general harmful, the body cant process them as they could be sophisticated or no enzymes can handle them or the body can process them but any way can do really bad things to your cells, in particular change your DNA or critical enzymes that can lead to cancer, or just the body cant get rid of them and accumulate in your body and only God knows what bad things can they do to you, anything your body cant throw out if it cant use it then it's a very bad thing.

?!!! what is wrong in what i just wrote? for example "opiate" define any opioid analgesic alkaloid found as NATURAL products in the opium poppy plant, while pethidine is semi-synthetic because it is partly artificial made in labs even if it has the same exact effect as opium, hence it's called synthetic-opioid (artificial chemical). natural chemicals are produced entirely in nature by living organisms, any thing else is artificial. i dont understand where is the problem :o.
@ade8890
@ade8890 9 жыл бұрын
drsomeone1 I just quoted the part that was wrong. Just because something is found in nature doesn't automatically mean it's better. Cyanide will kill you and that's found naturally in many plants. When you give such a blanket statement I can't take you seriously. All I want is facts, not some seemingly opinionated bs being flung my way.
