The Dallas Fuel Paris Bunker Comp | Behind The Akshon

Stage 2 of the Overwatch League saw the addition of not only a new hero in Baptiste but also Paris entering the competition map pool.
Initially, the game’s newest map was a mystery to both teams and viewers alike with no defined "meta" strategy set in stone. However, due to the geometry of the map objectives and proximity to the relative spawn points, most teams have opted into running an Orisa-Bastion-Baptiste bunker, which we covered in our previous episode.
Out of the twenty teams in the Overwatch League, the Dallas Fuel is a team, according to their assistant coach Jayne, has apparently put a lot of time into mastering the intricacies of this map.
After hours of planning and practice, the Dallas Fuel were able to harvest the fruits of their labor after devising a strategy with the non-conventional placement of their Baptiste bunker to catch unprepared teams like the Toronto Defiant off-guard.
UPDATE 06/08/2019: We would like to make a correction. The LA Gladiators were the first ones to run this composition on Paris in the Overwatch League during their Stage 2 Week 1 match against the Seoul Dynasty. According to Gladiators head coach Dpei, this composition was something that Surefour had in mind and through random iteration with the team ended up playing it on Paris.

Havana is newer, but Paris is far more memorable in terms of just how agonizing it is to play on. Havana is as plain as can be tbh. Just another payload map, not bad, but not that amazing either.

I like this comp more than a standard bunker due to Winston being able to cleave well at the choke points and to counter dive the back-line due to immortality being an insane tool for peeling so Matrix is less valuable than it was before Baptiste - especially with the nerf coming to it meaning the D.Va will have to commit to the peel closer than before. The last two slots are toss ups though, it could be uses to counter the enemies comps or to help against things like EMP Nano Blade (e.g triple support (something like Bap, Ana, Zen) and hide the backline away from the main bunker, the EMP will have to commit to either the main bunker or the backline and both can be punished if coordinated well enough)

I think the "unorthodox position" is alot better because it moves the choke and limits options. In the typical position, it is easy for Tracer, maybe even Reaper to flank and get behind the team. In the new position, it shifts the choke to in front of the shop and it opens the field of view so the team can see EVERY thing happening.

One of the biggest reasons for these new unorthodox positions is Baptiste. The immortality field can be placed inside the room, forcing the attacking team to wait it out or hard commit and feed. It usually also involves a nearby health pack that Baptiste can use to keep himself alive because his self-heal has a long cooldown.

i feel like it does too much to counteract the dive in the neutral fight but leaves even bigger glaring holes in the other weaknesses the comp had in the first place: winston is mostly ran for the utility of isolating enemy winston from heals, since considering the enemy comp is mostly going to be low shield break, the bubble would generally lasts longer and covers more enclosed area in terms of blocking heals than defense matrix. that really specialized form of protection does provide more value than d.va against a dive tanks engage, but all the other utility tha d.va potentially provides (like spychecking, screening areas with bomb) is going to be something you miss.. i see that they try to even out the value by stationing the bunker two jumps away (that lack of a less specialized, yet more consistent protection from the defense matrix vs the winston bubble is a tinier gap when engagements happen less frequently and takes a longer while to initiate, since consistency isn't as valuable considering all that.) primal rage could theoretically make up for the use if dva bomb to disrupt emp follow up, but it seems way harder since dva can hide and then throw and all the area is instantly screened, whereas winston needs to tank shots trying to disrupt with a hacked team that can't provide the usual amount of sustain that's required for a primal rage to be useful. most cheese comps, even the default bunker, generally, there's a lot of really good value you're getting at the cost not really strong safety nets or consistency. d.va and rez, as well as the immortality were the small bits of safety and consistency that the general comp had, but with this comp, it seems to do away with those in favor of being able to deal with non-ult dives for longer amounts of time. i think this comp is trying to accomplsih different things than the usual paris bunker you see around, because it's true that whatever disassembles the winston-orisa bunker would eventually have disassembled the other one anyways, and the way they're stationed and programmed to take dry engagements probably take more time off the clock without running the risk of an incredibly immaculate dive dissassembling the bunker in 15 seconds. orisa bunker comp is a comp built mostly to try and full hold, with little to no safety net in the case of an emp dive, whereas this tries to chip off more time in point a without pretending that there's going to be an emp headed this way eventually.

I found a way to flank around a bunker comp as hanzo or genji so First you go out of spawn and then you keep going until that main route than on the building in the right you climb up the wall and then you dash or leap up and it should be enough to get you over the building and most people won’t notice you and you could just flank on the stair path that’s like a Levatated sidewalk and then most of the other team will freak out and try to get you and the rest of your team could move in whims the enemy team this mainly only works in like bronze and silver but you could still try it

I still don’t understand why you would run Ana instead of Mercy in a bunker. Bunker comps don’t take much damage anyway and with Baptiste/Mercy you’ll have plenty of heals. Plus it allows Mercy to damage boost the dps

I did this exact scenario today! I was Symmetra and we just had to capture one point of Hanamura, and they were Bastion. So I went around with Sym tp not as professional though. Just ran this map in Quick Play with randoms, and was able to pull off this comp! The teammate playing Bastion saw I put my Orisia Sheild on the back side; instead of in the middle where he was. We didn't have a Baptiste, but our Mercy also knew where to go; as she followed the Bastion. At first; the Bastion looked like he was going to move, but stayed put. It paid off big time; as the enemy team couldn't touch the point with some of our team on the High Ground and Bastion and me on the opposite side; while Mercy moved from group to group keeping up heals. It wasn't the full Dallas Bunker Comp, but it worked just the same!

The Winston can pretty safely contest point presence, and the bunker provides fire support to blow up anyone that comes to fight him. It's pretty much the same role a D.va would normally have in a bunker comp.

New Meta: Mog Reaper, Mei, Rein, Hog, Lucio, Moira I did this team on a few older vids on other channels. Once my team blows up. I'ma take credit. Strategy: 1. Hog fishes for a hook 2. Mei walls off solo enemy hook away from team 3. With Lucio speed boost your team can rape the solo enemy pulled in before enemy can help. (Speed boosted Mei + Reaper) will kill any fcking solo enemy pulled by team Hog. 4. Rinse and repeat. Since you have a team Rein to shield and a great team combo killer with Reaper. (Reaper + rein or Mei ult will always team wipe) 5. Moira the 6th hero can be swapped for any healer varient btw depending on what enemy composition the team is up against. (If fighting aganist GOATS, the "Mog" team can use a zen for discord/ult or even Ana to spam anti nades + boost reaper for team wipes

Yall can call it "Glass-Cannon" if hog lands hooks or not. But the team works. Yall forgetting (Reaper, Mei, Hog can pump out damage on any meta team/bunker comp) Example: hogs ult = can be used to split enemy team (while the mei team wall em off while the rest focused the ones outta place) = bunker comp got no chance Mei ult > bunker comp if walled correctly Trust. Just cause no one seen it work doesnt mean it wont work. Who is gonna kill a Reaper? When he has 2-3 FAT TANKS? Who is gonna keep healing his ass? He can literally toe-toe any tank in a team fight. Moira pick = was optional, as i stated above, and I did say zen/ana xD

Why didn’t they just put pressure on point? They were given the right flank, so they could have easily stepped onto it. There are little pillars or something they could use for cover (pause at 5:34). I’m pretty sure the devs put them there on purpose to give players a counter to bunker. It would force the bunker to rotate, either allowing the attackers to beat it right there or to make it weak enough to beat next push.

At 5:34, that's the defending team's Sombra you see on the point. None of the attackers are in a position to put pressure on the point.

Lucky Tran What I’m wondering is if the entire attacking team went for point, maybe with a rein or something to protect them as they squeeze in right behind the pillar to the left. The sombra and winston are the only heroes on the defending team with enough mobility to contest, and they can’t 2v6. I don’t see a way that the bunker could safely rotate in time before the attackers have at least 1-2 ticks. Edit: There are a bunch of other things they could have done with the right flank open to point as well, like a mei walling off the defenders or setting up a dual-shield bastion battery to win the shield war.
