I first heard this version at the 930 Club in Washington DC back in the early 1990s. This is my favorite Damned song and I really like this version. Glad someone captured it.

Plastix Max here, still live and kicking, punk rocker, regularly wrote to, Radio Clyde's, Wednesday night show, Streetsounds, broadcasted from Mother Glasgow, hosted by Brian Ford, late 70's. Letters were read out, on the show, encouraging pen pal friendships, happy days! But back to the best band of all time, apart from Xrayspex, The Damned of course! The beginning of this version is pure, Eleanor Rigby, Beatles song, done by my third favourite group of all time.

They kicked off their two 10th anniversary gigs at Finsbury Park with this version. Dave Vanian 1st took to the stage on his own singing the opening verse and as the chorus was about to kick in, Rat, Roman and Brynn walked on stage and took to their instruments. 25 years ago- unbelievable!!!!

To be fair, I favoured, The Beatles, The Damned and Xrayspex, but of course, there are so many musical works of achievement out there, for someone like me, to get excited about, on Mother Earth. Will give to you, Polystyrene, the greatest hug ever, when I meet you on the better side.

@evertonio they did play this version at glasgow 1989, i have the full gig on a bootleg dvd, was a good gig captain gets a lot of stick from the crowd
