"The Dance" is a song written by Tony Arata, and recorded by American country music singer Garth Brooks and the 10th and final track from his self-titled debut album, released on April 12th, 1989. Brooks heard "The Dance" for the 1st time while songwriter Tony Arata , who wrote the song in the early 80's, performed it at Nashville's Bluebird Cafe. The song was inspired by the Kathleen Turner film Peggy Sue Got Married. In 1990, the song's video earned Brooks the Academy of Country Music Award for Video of the Year as well as Song of the Year. Brooks' signature song has also been covered by artists ranging from Mindy McCready to 3 Doors Down. Brooks explains that the song is written with a double meaning, both as a love song about the end of a passionate relationship, and a story of someone dying because of something he believes in after a moment of glory. Thanks very much for taking the time to watch my cover of this great song, and please comment, like, and share if you enjoyed my rendition. Kindest regards....Steve
