Yes , but in the episode 2 , Jesus told John " he didn't think that was a good idea to rebuke Herod" Jesus never said that to John , and John called himself a radical . John never said that , why do people not care what the bible actually says. This series is deepening people's deception and many won't ever see the teal Jesus of the bible. They will have a false Christ image of this chosen Jesus . It's really sad that people don't care what Jesus actually said , they just want the entertainment . They call it authentic, pure, holy. They look at rouini like he is some sort of channeler for Jesus himself. It's terrible. Johnathan even prayed to the dead preacher Lonnie frisbee for help in playing Lonnie in the Jesus revolution. The man went to Lonnie's grave and prayed , not to Jesus Christ, not to God, but the dead in order to " do Lonnie justice" But again , all these facts and truths mean little to nothing to anyone emotionally attached to this false Jesus. Nah, have you seen the pose at 1:43-1:44? That's clear scorpion. The dance incoporated several predator-inspired moves. Anyway, this scene was done better some 60+ years ago in the movie King of Kings starring Jeffrey Hunter as Christ which I highly recommend for all to see. At least from the dramaturgical standpoint there are two important superb choices in the older movie - 1) Herod repeatedly and publicly beggs Salome to dance for him even though she declines him several times. 2) Salome asks for beheading of John the Baptist publicly. Both situations combined put Herod under enormous pressure to grant Salome her wish. In this way both Herod AND Salome are directly responsible for John's death. Here Herod could easily refused her if he wanted to. Were it that case, I don't believe we would've known her from the Scripture as her role would've been pretty insignificant - it wouldn't have mattered on what whim Herod decided to put John the Baptist to death. But it does, because Salome and her dance were somehow crucial for the matter to actually happen.

This is probably the best rendition of Salome's dance I have ever seen. It was not seductive, it was very ethnically and historically accurate and tantalizing with the music and amazing acrobats. I love the historical and cultural richness of it without it being sexual. A lot of these ancient cultures, we lose what their music, food, language, dance, costumes, etc would be like and that's what I love about this show....the texture. In the acting, the backstories, the costumes, the set, the cinematography. Its very rich and does not have the look of a low budget independent film. Bravo. 👏🏻

For those who don’t know: John the Baptist was on Herod’s hitlist for decrying his relationship with Herodias. They had an affair, and while they claimed to be married, Herodias was still legally married to her first husband Phillip while Herod had divorced his first wife to be with her. So their relationship was adultery in the eyes of God. Herodias knew that the Jews would throw a fit if that got out, so she set up this dance to have John killed.

Let's all focus on the dancing chicken and not on the obvious false Jesus this series puts out there. I simply read my bible and I know Jesus Christ , when I watch this series I haven't seen the authentic Jesus as Dallas Jenkins said. I guess I'm a radical because I call it like I see it, something Jesus told John in this series that it wasn't a wise idea to confront herod. ( Artistic licence =going beyond what is written ) Jesus never told John that at all . What's sad is that no matter what you will probably ignore the obvious and trade the true Jesus Christ found in the Holy scriptures , the bible, and replace him with the chosen Jesus and yet claim you know Jesus . But it's all a deception , the devil has counterfeited Christ Jesus . I understand more now how easy it will be for Satan to convince the world that he is the saviour . He has convinced millions that this chosen Jesus is exactly like Jesus was . I would that you would look at mathiew 24 , and find out Jesus said " for false christs shall appear and deceive mamy" " when they say to you " he is out in the desert,do not go. If they say he is in the inner chambers ( nextfkix in the inner chambers of homes.) do not go." Yet people say " you gotta see the chosen series . No , I gotta read my bible, so I'm not deceived into these types of deceptions.

@@wynamaarp7024 Though, obviously Johnathan isn't Jesus... It seems pretty clear that the chosen is aligned with the will of God. They never claimed that their show is the bible. It's a SHOW about the bible, that specifically wants to spread the word of God to all. To do God's will. It's a show... that God is using to lead people towards Him. To lead people towards His words within the scriptures. I know God used that show to lead me towards Him. You're becoming overly dramatic and judgemental over the smallest of things for a show. When it's obvious that it's showing the love of Christ, the mercy of Christ, the Faithfulness of christ, the humility of Christ, the humanity in Christ, and etc. Yeah... it has scenes that weren't specifically written in the scriptures, but they don't align with the world. They just dive deeper into jesus and His message. This is a show after all, so it has to have more meat to its bone... but the meat they have isn't wicked, but speaks wisdom that came from the Holy Spirit.

The king was seduced by the girl (which is creepy) and after the dance he told her she can ask for anything she wants... she asked her mother and for revenge she told her to ask for John's head on a gold or silver tray. The king liked Jhon but he gave his word in from of everybody so he's ego was stronger than the likeness he had for Jhon so he sent someone to kill him while he was on a cell. For those that don’t know, Herod Antipas is the one the dance was for. He was in an adulterous affair with his brother’s wife, Herodias. John the Baptizer constantly chastised them about how wrong the adulterous affair was in the eyes of Jehovah, publicly. Herodias, hated John because of this! She demands many times for Herod Antipas to have John the Baptizer killed. Herod Antipas refuses to, out of fear of the people he governed, he felt John the Baptist could be the anticipated Messiah, Herod only has him thrown in jail. So, Herodias devises a scheme. For Herod’s birthday, she has her daughter, Salome,(who Herod was enchanted with because of her dances), to perform for him and when he asks her for what she wants, to tell him: “Give me the head of John the Baptist on a platter.” So, she dances for him and does just so. Herod Antipas, being a SIMP, has his prison guards go and behead John the Baptizer(the cousin of Jesus Christ). This is one of two accounts of birthday celebrations leading to the death of someone, in the Bible. Birthdays were never celebrated by true Christians. They are pagan celebrations. (Along with Christmas).

This is a very tasteful depiction of Salome's dance. Not sexual, lustful, or seductive. And her costume was perfect: beautiful without being immodest. Proper coverage of the skin. But it still got the evil and tragic outcome accomplished. Well done, The Chosen!

The only episode I didn't watch twice. I was disgusted by Herrod. However, John seeing the Lamb 🐑 and saying Thank You was quite moving. Shalom ✝️🕊️

I forced myself to watch it twice , but I don’t want to watch it again. I’m up to 10 or more rewatches of all episodes except the fourth season, they’re all at 3 except this episode. The episode had me an emotional roller coaster! disgusted by Herod, furious about the whole situation, a weeping mess about John, and feeling happy and peaceful when he sees the lamb. I’m usually a stoic person when it comes to my emotions, but that really got me, and it was an uncomfortable feeling but at the same time it felt good to let it out…

That means the actor did a magnificent job. If an actor plays the part of a villain and you don't get repulsed by the character, that actor isn't worth their salt.

What makes it so difficult for me is knowing that it is true. It really happened. Jonathan Roumie said his role as Jesus, is officially over as Season 5 comes to a close. But, there are still 2 Seasons left, so since the Chosen is really focused on Jesus "chosen" followers, I am thinking the last 2 seasons is about them. Jesus' I2 disciples all died as martyrs, except for John, to whom Jesus gave Mary, His mother to live on as John's Emma. If you recall, the very first episode in Season 1, John is sitting with Mary in what appears to be their home. John is writing the Gospel of John (himself) for public publication so everyone who reads it will be told the Story of Jesus Christ, the Messiah. John is the only disciple not to be martyred. In his latter days, he is exiled to an island called Patmos, where he finished his Gospel Story. Some Christians believe that John did not die, that he was raptured to God as was Enoch from the Old Testament. I just hope they do not show the deaths if all of them. I only know how 1 of them died. (Simon) Peter was crucified, hanging upside down. It was his request to die that way because he said he was not worthy to die the way Jesus did.

According to legend, Salome died a terrible death. She inadvertently fell into an ice hole, and the ice closed around her neck. No one heard Solomeya's screams, as no one was nearby at that time. She danced her last dance in agony with her body under the ice.

Exactly! Luke 13:32 “Go tell that fox I will keep on driving out demons and healing people today and tomorrow, and on the third day I will reach my goal “ *in Herod and Herodias is the spirit of Jezebel, spiritual wickedness, perversion. So yes because herodias was a nasty vile woman , John spoke the truth so she used her own daughter against her father who was heavily intoxicated and only saw lust

I thought it was a great decision artistically to use a dance that was impressive (very impressive!) and athletic, but not very alluring. There's a harshness there that I think fits the situation. Good job!

Imam Hussain used to recite how they killed "Yahya" which you call "John the Baptist" and went back to doing their everyday activities as if nothing had ever happened. His story is similar to the story of John.

Id like to share a dream i had...before i slept i told the Lord to show me my future...and a dream came when i slept" in the dream i was wearing millitary clothing and had battle wound...later on i was walking and i saw peoples lips moving saying"have u heard Jesus has come Jesus has come..." and i said to myself if He has come i have to see Him For myself...i started to search for Him..and there was someone on this earth perfoming signs thats deceived people and they thought it was Jesus and i said" how comes these people dont know this aint Jesus?" And i followed a narrow path which led me to a red ladder so i climbed the ladder which led me to the heavens and i came out in millitary clothing ..there was someone trying to come out of the earth not using the red ladder , a shark came and bit him and the individual fell back to the earth and there was blood because of the bite He got so he didnt make it inshort ..so i looked down from where i came from and i saw satan performing signs on the world and i wondered..where i was Gods presence was so strong and a mighty voice said"God is Great" i looked on the front and i saw Jesus walking before me as a shepherd walking before His sheep...i ran to Him and told Him"Jesus just take me and go with me just take me and go with me", he asked me" what should i do with the ones left behind?"and i heard satan cursing them"F them!"😢 i was brought back to the earth and Gods presence was around me i looked up to the sky Jesus was standing in the middle of angeles He was bigger than them and a voice told me"ivo ndio nakuja".... its swahili it means..Thats how am coming.. and i woke up ..

I just wanna say for all the complaints about a GYMNASTICS ROUTINE... what did yall want her twerking on a family show? I'm just saying... art is art period. That is why it is important to READ YOUR BIBLE. We see enough provocative dancing on TV and other places. Can we just enjoy the art and hold back on the disses? I don't know how Dallas and the Team do it cuz some of Y'all are oooo, hurtful.

When there is revelry and drunkenness, there is no perspective! It’s just catering to one’s lowest state of humanity - lust and sensual pleasure. What kind of entertainment was available in that era is questionable. The Chosen has done its best for entertainment and visual sensation, the point is clear! 👍

Historically an unmarried jewish princess would have been unlikely to be any older than fifteen, probably younger. The real story is far darker. Salome was a child trapped in the power machinations of a murderous, incestuous dynasty. John the Baptist was quite picky in what offended him, given the appalling behaviour of that royal cesspit of depravity!
